Can anyone give me a tip/tut on how to make good and or cartoonlike eyeballs.

I really want to learn how to make it from scratch and not use any plugins.

Do a search for "eyeball" in this forum, and you'll find threads upon threads devoted to the subject.

There is a pretty good tut over on http://www.teamphotoshop.com about making the iris.

I found a really good one at a site that I lost the bookmark to. It showed the iris as well as the white of the eye.

You could also just run a search on any engine and probably come up with good ones.

A long time ago there was a thread about drawing an eye and its iris, and someone explained it very well. Last time I wanted to check it, I couldn't find it anymore. But I remember he used Polar Coordinates after drawing some lines next to eachother.
I'm sorry, I can't explain it good enough, let's hope this guy will reply.

[edit1]Maybe this was the one:

[edit2]Yeah, the tutorial on TeamPhotoshop.com is pretty good.

the link is broken because his host won't allow direct file access unless it comes from inside that host. I'm sure someone with better knowledge could explain it better.

go to the exploratorium in san francisco and steel the cow eyeballs from the disection display...then tape them to your monitor...

tnx guys

I want to put an eye with teeth shewing into it on my sig, but I find it dificult - the teeth I mean. Any tips on the teeth?

Human Shield, if I might be so bold as to comment your sig while I'm on the subject. You shoul move the iris in your sig a tad up under the top eyelid, it will give it a more realistic effect (try looking at it up side down and you'll see what I mean)

Eeek! Lens flare. Not a bad thing in some cases but why on an eye? Just use some creative selections on that sucker.

Hey Eye Eater...
In refrence to your comments about Human Shield's sig....

The reason you think the eye looks upside-down is because of the light source. In everyday life, you are accustomed to seeing a light source from above.... casting the shadow down on people's faces....... here, we have just the opposite.

But seeing as you brought it up.... I might as well throw in my comment about the sig...
Besides the fact I think it's awesome... one thing irritates me....
There's no shadow above the nail...
Hrmph....

Ok folks... sorry for the break in the topic...
back to our regularly scheduled program....

Cartoon-like? Draw one and scan. If you want something really freaky, do something like the Corinthian in Sandman. That's creepy. Ewww...

nah..eyeballs suck..but they get almost as much play as "shiny spheres" and "curves metal" around here.

There's a ton of these topics in the archives, just have a go through there

Wow is that ever an ugly result for a tutorial. (I'm talking about the team photoshop thing right above this post)

It looks like a bevelled disk with a round wire brush under it. Or something that came off tickle-me elmo.

I'd stick to the wavy thin lines and polar coordinates method guys. I think it was Das, or Tycho who described it best in one of the old threads.
