CAN SOMEONE TELL ME HOW CAN U GET A SPECIAL INSPIRATION?
I THINK MANY PEOPLE HERE HAVE MANY EXCELLENT INSPIRATION,

heh.... tough telling someone how to get inspiration... it just happens.
Do something different with your day.... go buy a new lamp... that can be inspiring.... that's what I did today.

yup..thats a hard question. Inspiration imho opinion is not something you can teach.. its something spontaneous and comes from within. You either feel the need to 'create' (regardless of medium) or you dont. For me this comes in spurts and is not predicatable... Taxon's idea of doing different things is a good one.. this can cause your brain/soul/spirit to get stimulated that could lead to inspiration....

my only advice is not to push it or force it.. if it comes it will come with out force

surf the web, walk around town, go to an art gallery, play with a child, go to work, basically live your life. Then when you are creating, keep going, no matter what, keep going, keep creating whatever you're creating, especially if you're not sure what you are creating. Inspiration will come and hit you and hopefully you'll know enough technically to render the inspiration when it comes. If not, write down what you were thinking then go study on how to make it happen and go at it again.

Vanvanta: I think you *need* to find an astist (hell find several) that will inspire you. Could you imangine a musician trying to create music if then never listened to anyone elses music. Even the big names in the music industry will tell you they really like blah persons music better then their own.

Evenyone has someone to look at and say, wow, that kick's ass. I have several artists that I follow around (not litealy, i just follow their work) and much of my work in some ways will resemble theirs. What I'm not saying however is to find someone you think is good and copy what they do for the rest of you life. And don't get stuck following the one group of people forever, you will change throughout your life, thus you tastes will change as will your inspirations.

All that being said, I also think it's very important to have inspirations that arn't people. Hell if everyone drew their inspirations from other people we would never see anything new!! Take something you like and express it. Say you see an areosole can that you really like the shape of. Do an artwork that expresses the lines, curves, surfaces or whatever it is about that object that managed to jump out and grab ahold of you attention and re-create it for all to see!

Furthermore, not all inspiration are visual, mabey someone's writing or poetry (Take VP for an example) will inspire you, mabey it's a certain smell, feel or taste. The world is full of well, everything! It's all their for the taking, just reach out and grab it.

All artists will draw from things around them, if they don't then what their doing is comercial crap which I don't call art! Some people even go crasy when it comes to being inspired. They get an idea running around inside their head and enslessly search for a way to bring it into the world. Once I wanted to create an artistic impression of objectional affection to the point of smashing my faviourate coffee mug on the pavement just so I could draw something that I loved after it was destroyed. Inspiration is everything but nothing at the same time.



I hope I was able to give you some insight to what imspiration means to me, it may mean other things to other people, but thats my view on inspiration. But the other are right, no-one can give you inspiration, it's a very personal thing.

The-Artists.org is really cool. I had never heard of it before. There are some really inspiring images in there. Hell, there were even a few pics from Dennis Hopper in there... Easy Rider anyone? Sweet... good link JKM!

Needs inspiration?? don't wait on it then it will never come ("writersblock") go do something which don't take all your attention but doesn't bore you. Like phoning to a good friend (lot's off people start doodling right now) Start reading a book, try to make something out this book.
Or if nothing helps and you are old enough(??) get completly pissed
the world will look different to you then...

I don't may say this but you can smoke pot (not two many though that will make you lazy and inactive....) some people claims this helps

Now i'm sure there was a drug most of the worlds truely great writers and artists did to spark their inspiration. I'm not sure who exactly the people were who used this drug but the Doc could possibly answer that one.

Now what was it called...... Abstance. Thats it, it's suppose to give you inspiration. I'm certain many of the great writers and artists of our history. Not that I'm saying you should use it though. Hell I don't even know what it is, or even if it still exists, I just thought I'd throw it into the conversation.

Dracusis, I think what you're looking for is 'absinthe', a green liqueur used historically in the Victorian era and recently in the goth scene. Here's what I found on it:

Van Gogh's reported pica for paints and his craving for camphor and turpentine are thought to have represented the effects of chronic absinthism, causing him to seek out the ingestion of terpenes of any sort.(1) His erratic behaviors, mania, impulsive violence, abrupt seizure-like attacks, and bouts of anger and depression were all characteristic adverse chronic effects of absinthe use. After he shot himself in July, 1890, van Gogh was first buried in the French town, Auvers-sur-Oise, where he had been staying at the home of his psychiatrist, Dr. Paul Gachet. In tribute, the good doctor planted an ornamental tree over the grave which flowered and thrived. When van Gogh's coffin was disinterred 15 years later to be relocated next to the grave of his brother, Theo, the roots of the tree were found to have entwined round the coffin in a 'close embrace'.(1) The tree, known as the Thuja, ironically was a well-known source of thujone, the toxin that likely contributed both to van Gogh's perception of his art as well as his madness and early demise!(1)

The 'pica' referred to above has nothing to do with typography. Apparently, Van Gogh took to eating paint as well as drinking turpentine. I dunno, that kind of creativity, I can do without... :P

All in all, I wouldn't recommend it as an inspirational source. Now, cutting off your ear, there's a source of inspiration for me!

Rinswind: What you were referring to was the theory of inspiration particles sleeting through space. Usually they pass through matter like a rock passing through the milky way. Occasionally, they hit the right neuron and you get an idea. Unfortunately, it's not always the right neuron at the right time. The entire mysteries of the galaxy, for example, were all revealed to a slightly surprised tortoise sunning itself at the time.

work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work, and then a little practice too

that's all there is to it...that and read the tutorials at Hands On and the GurusNetwork (see the buttons at the bottom of the page).

I once read about inspiration...
It pointed out 2 things that stuck out at me and I have used ever since.

1) Day Dream. Let your imagination run wild and you can be surprised sometimes of what your mind can come up with.

2) Watch TV. There are tons of things on television that can inspire you. There are pictures, logos, and shapes everywhere you look on every channel you turn to.
