I have PS 5.5, which I am slowly learning... (very slowly, I might add... we won't even get into the surely part )
I love it, I will stick with it, and I will eventually get it... no question there..

my question is... should I stop with 5.5 and just get the 6 upgrade and learn it instead, or should I keep on until I learn 5.5 and then upgrade to whatever version might be out then...?

thoughts anyone....?

thanks, ...penny

I agree with you completely, vp. I have no idea why they messed with the interface as much as they did. In a software upgrade, it's usually not a good idea to remap the hotkeys because you'll piss of your old users. That's why every version of MS word from now till armageddon will be able to cut and paste using ctrl-x and crtl-v. Why Adobe decided to make ctrl-' hide the guides instead of ctrl-; will always be a mystery to me.

Ive said this before and ill say it again

Not everyone has the zeal and compassion to learn software at a top shelf level. For those who do PS will be great.

I like those lazy features because i dont plan on being a PS expert.....so maybe those features and changes that adobe made was for EVERYONE...........some of you purist will have to learn to share with us not so pure..............(VP notice i said purist not traditionalist....hehehe....dont want ta tick you off....i might need a PS answere from you someday)

Besides adobe has shareholders to protect ..............and new products are demanded.

As far as PS6.........i would stop there.......5.5 has some annoying limits......(but true......... not enough to justify the price for the up-grade)........I would move up to 6 anyways then say enough...................6 on a dual monitor running all my bloatware kalidascope windows on Mac is cool..................as 10 purist just fainted from a colored desktop..............hahaha.....just kidding......ive toned down my post in this forum as the Asylem is for artist and not madmen.......:-(...........

I like PS 6 so much that I uninstalled 5.0 -
I find PS6 to be much more of a website design tool, rather than a "drawing" program. Hence, some people like it, some don't.

I find that ImageReady is just SO much a killer enhancement to PhotoShop.

I was skeptical at first, but for me, it's an incredible enhancement to my daily work flow... I can't speak enough of it. PS6 has many more tools, and is much easier to navigate than PS5 (IMO). Anyway, that's just me.

Actually, I agree with Kevincar. The workflow inhancements do work. Sure I hated them at first but once I got set up correctly I was away!

As for the 'stupid' buttons, you can get rid of them, Adove still uses it's patented modular interface so you can customize eveyrthing the way you want it. Which means I axed the layer styles, and completly re-aranged, well everything. Oh, and yeah, the interface design is patented and yeah, Macromedia did get their ass sued off for 'stealing' it. Well so I head. Anyways.... As for the so called annoying top bar, I like it cause it's always in the same place, and it free's up space on the left side of the screen so I can see more layers and channels.

But I also have to admit that the price you pay for what you get isn't all that great if your just a home user.

VP? "confused" you still using version 4?? :/ :? That doesn't have the history list support does it? these's one real good reason to upgrade to version 5

everybody needs a swamp bear

It's called def writers or something, but it's not really like my signature, just the solid internal part. I have to pull it off my other machine though. Email me.
