hi, for a while now, i've noticed that the add border function in ps6 is inconsistent. when I go to select>modify>border>1px, sometimes it's extremely thin, other times kinda thick.

for example, right now, I can't get anything thinner than this:

but in the past, i have gotten ones like this (the green line):

what's the deal? should i be making borders differently?

edit: those aren't showing up too well on this bg.. i'll change them real quick.
2nd edit: ok, now you can see.

I usually do a SELECT ALL>STROKE and use 1px.

Or I use the rectangle and STROKE

threep wonders why this post is not in the 'photoshop' forum, yet posts anyway:
"pugz is right on. edit stroke is your best bet.
select>modify>border is not the best option for this, and it can be blurry because what happens if your selection border is slightly feathered? the selection will be slightly blurred at the edges too. it is however a usefull tool - what if you tried to put yourself into a photo, superimpose like? well, a nice finishing touch to blend you right in is to select a 2px border around yourself, and do a tiny gaussian blur to get rid of any sharp edges. its a nice way of blurring borders without actually blurring the item itself.
it's all about correct tool selection.... hope this helps!"

threep pats himself on the back, and reassures himself:
"it's ok threep, you were right. you're always right.
but it is nice having jeni pat my back..."
threep decides that being wrong could be a novel idea, if it always results in back-patting, of course...
