Preserved Topic: Preparing images for web... (Page 1 of 1)

Quick question:

How do you crop a large image into several smaller images using Photoshop? I'm sure this has been posted, I'm just too lazy to look. It would be a great help if someone were to tell me how this is done in CorelDraw or Photo-Paint as well.

By the way, I'm talking about Photoshop 5.0 and CorelDraw 10.

In PS6 you've got the splice tool which you can also use in Imageready if you've got PS5.5 or PS6. Once you've set your splices just hit file.save for web. Or the slightly harder way but just as good. Set up guides for how you wanna splice your image and use the rect. marquee to select your guided out splices, zoom up real close to get them perfect, and then C&P out to a new file and save it as a jpg or gif. Set up your tables how your guides looked in PS and set the cells to the image size that goes in them.

Since you have PS 5.0, just use the guides and copy paste each smaller portion of image.

Easiest way for me...
1 - Flatten Image
2 - Create Guidelines
3 - Crop pic required (remember to have "snap to guides" on - ensures pieces fit together like puzzle)
4 - Save Image as pic001.jpg (for example)
5 - Go to History toolbar, Go back one step to flatten image
6 - Repeat steps 2-5 till entire image is cut up

1) Set the guides.
2) Make a selection.
3) Copy Merged ctrl + shift + c (doesn't work if image is flat)
4) New Doc ctrl + n
5) Paste ctrl + v
6) Merge down ctrl + e
7) Use favorite method to save.

I have a Action set to F5 to do steps 3 - 6 for me. Fairly easy to do.
