I am truly enjoying the artwork everyone is putting up. I am a bit distressed by the inclusion of written passages that are intended to enhance the image. They are taking away from the work, in my opinion. The content of your text is not the problem, really (I usually don't read it anyway) - it's the typography. It seems like everyone is just choosing a random font or not thinking carefully about this decision. If you MUST use text, please *think* about your visual use of it.

Now, if I can ever find time to participate!

heh........to each his own. Concerning my work this time.... I had no plans for text when I began my pic this week...but those words came to my mind as I worked on the girl. My font is bold ....... like her. The words to me are about the pic....about the walls, the doors.....her life

This weekly thing was for each person to be free to do their own thing...no matter what that thing is. It's a relax time .... no rules.... just have fun with it.

Um, I just turned the image upside-down, so in my case, the text WAS intended to detract from the work (or lack thereof).

(Edit: Oh, and I did actually think about the typography, whether it shows or not... )

mmm... ya know... similar thoughts of people using words just about every time bothered me back at about week 3. But I came to the conclusion... it is for fun...(well, for me I use it more for practice) ... what should I personally care if people put words on it. I put words on a couple of mine... and if I had a real problem with it... it shouldn't matter... I'll do my pieces.. and other people will do theirs...
it's all about diversity in our imaginations.

There's no need for any of us to come on here imitating someone else's piece and there's no need to criticize other people's work.
This is a fun thread.... which seems to be a dying breed lately...

let's all just enjoy doing graphics... that's what we came here for... that's what this is all about.

DG: love that I am hypocrite line. simply beautiful. reminds me, well, of, um a large furry ape like man sitting squat-legged on a tropical tree in a rainforest background in a Sears portrait studio wearing a name tag reading "I TaRzann: Sales Representative". I am hypocrite, heh, love it. I am hypocrite. Ya know, being a self admitted hypocrite is one of most relaxing social positions, that way you can say what you want, not worrying about contradicting yourself.

Oh, yeah, to the topic at hand. DG, great stuff, strange encounters-esque. I love everything I see here, such a great pic to work with, gotta do another one. I'm bent on creating a repeat performance gallery of my own once I've done enough. Nothing much, just a single page per image, you'll notice that all mine kinda fit to a corner of the page in some way, or not, whatever, and then you click the image to run a simple random page script that'll toss you over to another repeat product. Just an idea. I mean, we've got weadz great sig page in the ring around the asylum, think it'd be cool to see a few more and some other pages based on asylum, um, "traditions(?)"...sig contest pages, repeat performance pages...now i'm just sad i didn't start doing the repeat things until week 7...
