Hello, Id like to please know how i can go about making the metalic pipes and such in this image, the fine detailing of it. Is there a way to go about this? Is it a larger image made then resized to this small size to get the effect? Thanks in advance for any help

By Hand.

End of story. Zoom in, get to know the pencil tool.

Maybe make yourself some custom swatchs to work from (read the help file!) to hlep in color picking.

You think? I would have assumed it was done much larger then downsized.

There's really no evidence of a downsample in that bugger, I would also say that it was built in the pixel pushing zoom range of 1000+%

Pencil tool is your friend!

ermm.... first off

I Never Ever downsize such things... ::cough: lug::cough:: I have done a bunch of "pipes" on my webpage... Not quite like that picture, but I think the same basics apply... DL-44, Yeah, Pencil. I will expound uppon that though...

Start with a mid/dark Gray. Draw all lines. Pipe fittings. what ever... Look at others work to get ideas.

For it to look real you need contrast. Remember, Light looks High and Dark Looks low. < that is how you get 3d stuff.

Go over the lines with black set to a REALLY low opasity. Make some dark spots and some really dark spots... dont be very consistant... then go over it with white at a low opasity... and black and white...

Dont give up... Try different things and diff. ways of doing them to see what works best for you.

But the loss of deatil from downsizing can be countered with the sharpen tool. Or downsizeing by certain percentages (10%, 25%, 50%) also helps to maintain detail.

actualy looking at the grey tones in the detailed ares and I can see some green and brown greys. Getting those kind of grey tones in by hand with the pencil tool would be extreamly hard. I'm not saying it couldn't be done of course, but it would be extreamly hard. Although, the extreamly detailed bits are very squared (not many rounded bits) which would make it easire to do by hand...

eh, it's hard to say. It was done by hand thogh, there's no doubt about that.

Wead, Use my Whiskery Catfish... please.

I didnt say much about downsizeing. Sharpen??? You crazy man??? lemme see here...

Some things look good down sized, like when painting a person... or my sig. To get the detail one must paint it big.

BUT when you are workin with things that have 1 pixel wide lines, you must paint them at 1 pixel. You dont have very good controll when downsizing... so what you want to be one pixel will come out very blurry.

Blastafuzix, at first I thought you were new here... until I saw your sig. I'm kinda curious, why did you come back? Welcome back.

(just so nobody takes this the wrong way, I just wanna know why left in the first place, and how he could stay so long out of the nuthouse.)
