On of the guru's is done in a very nice metallic style .. i know some basic mettalic creating but not any advanced and nice one like the one i mentioned. I am hoping that someone would make a tutorial on that.. which i doubt so i would just hope someone would give me tha basic idea to be able to get what i wanted.. anyway i wanted the metallic texture to use on my website for a left hand side menu )

my site is http://ks440.tripod.com

a very newbie site plzzz comment on it as well and i accept insults and ideas to help me improve it

If I'm not mistaken, there are several metal GN logos.
GN Logos. That not all of them, is it?

I'm assuming you mean the metal one by DarkGarden...?

Ok, so you want metal... maybe rusted a bit...

So now you need to figure out how to do it.

Tutorials will help you in the beginning to get used to the tools, but once you get used to the tools you will need to expand out on your own and into the world of reality.

Follow the tutorial to get a basic idea of the concept behind metal, then find some images of the metal type you are looking at generating and work hard at expanding and achieving that effect.

No tutorial can give you exactly what you are looking for, that takes practice.

Use Dark Garden's tutorial, and work with it to get exactly what you want.

Well, let's see.

You want to create something like DarkGarden's metal logo.

DarkGarden wrote a tutorial on that very thing.

But it's not what you want?

I'm a little confused.

{{edit:
1)warjournal - no, that's not all of them, but it is most of the ones that have been actually used.

2)dyZ440 - no need to be rude to the person attempting to help you...all you had to do was correct the glaring typo in the link, and it would have brought you to the page at the GN where we list all of the logos.

of course you could always ask DarkGarden, but he'd probably tell you to read the tutorial, understand the concepts, then read an adjacent tutorial on rust texturing, then learn to blend the concepts together to get worn, rusted, burnt metal.

Of course he'd also probably offer more help if there wasn't a certain underlying rudeness in the responses to the people that have been trying to help.

Then again, who knows with that guy, he's a loose cannon.

Yeah, that DG is a freak.....be careful

My metal logo was made using the lighting effects filter from a mask made with the glass filter, some airbrusing, and some blurs. Plus some brushed in key highlights and shadows on seperate layers and stuff...

(wj - you had an extra bracket in the link...broke it all up...)
