Here you go. Look under 'Glow'.

Another quick and dirty way, if you are using PS 6.0, is to use the layer effects (double click on layer) Inner and outer glow. Hope that helps.

I'd say lens flares and hand-shading... and I've had surprisingly good luck with this beta tutorial by Warjournal on how to get a streaky light effect out of arbitrary objects. It's not officially up on Gurusnetwork yet, but I was really impressed with it. Never would have thought of it on my own.

Another option is making a brush which is really flat (2%-0%) and draw with white. the [color dodge] blending mode can help if you want retina-burning brightness.

Maybe you could use polar coordinates->wind.

Yeah. Some BoL/Ray of Light type stuff. Copy Layer, Gauss, Levels/Curves, Dodge. Something like that. Maybe even draw some lines in by hand with Line tool.

For a start, I would recommend using Pen tool set to 1px really close to center, then running BoL with Windx5 or something. Then start a new Layer, drop a small blob of white, run BoL on that. You should get something close to the example you posted.

Here's a sig I did in a hurry sometime ago:

Here's one way. On the same site as your pic, Ray of Light2 will also help Here

I almost forgot. There is a way to "cheat" if you are going for basic white streaks.

Start your doc with black. Paint some white along the left edge. Do Wind, Rotate Canvas, Polar Coords, move to taste. Cuts out a lot of steps at the beginning so you don't have to do a full-blown BoL/Ray of Light thing.

actually, I think that that was done with with rayoflight, but I don't really want THAT kind of effect (no rays, I just kinda want a glow).

What's BoL?

I like that wastedyouth tutorial..... I'm going for the kind of effect where it kinda hurts your eyes to look at it- kinda like looking at the sun.

'Bake that Adobe, yeah!' Glad for the warning, I'll put on sunglasses for your future posts.

Also interested in BoL. What is it? Bolt of light? Spill your guts!
