DL, what medium are you using? It looks like just pencil and paper sketch, but is this using a 'standard' #2 pencil or lighter and darker pencil set?

I'm trying to hone my meagre artistic skills to the point where I can prduce these kinds of sketches. While I know most of what it takes is just time, I'm looking for any pointers I can get along the way.

depends.

some are your basic bic mechanical pencil on scrap paper, some are either a 4H or a 2B pencil (or a combo of the 2) in my sketch book. The last one is pen (a $0.59 uniball to be exact ).

We never quite nailed down an exact time. A week was my suggestion, but if people want to go longer, that's not a problem.

Don't worry DL I have a plan for something, as soon as I mellow out I'll get started. (And yes it will be home grown, genuine.)

it's pretty clear that in a half hour you can't get masterpeices. But it's great as studies of form/color/texture/whatever aspect you feel like exploring.

but anyway, I quite like it. those faces are pretty creepy (make me think of Legend).

I'm kinda with izzay on this whole thing.
I work at a snails pace.... so you can probably count me out from partaking in too many of these things...
But I figured... "what the hell" on this...
just 15 minutes...
been analyzing a lot of landscape lately.... so this was a little warm-up before I head off to work on a more in-depth thing.

not enough here to care for a thumby.

TiaMary has a very nice sketchs that she made in her freetime (no more that 30 minutes, I Assure that)

Can I post them here? or told her to post them?

Wakkos - of course. I'd love to see them, she does some really nice work.

Michael - that's not bad at all. Had you spent the other 15 minutes fleshing out the highlights/shadow a bit, that'd be sweet. And it's a perfect way to get some practice in for a larger project. Look at my pieces for christ's sake...they're all half-ass. but most of them we're good practice.

Izzay - I wrote the script myself. It's all PHP. It doesn't auto-gen thumbnails or anything (I haven't tried that yet...it's on my list though), but pretty low maintenence.

Looks like there's been some inactivity lately, should we close this one?
