I am making a website for a golf-tour company. He wants it really simple, and there is not very much content. What I am unsure of is whether it's better to divide the topics in to separate pages, or have it all on the same page as I have now. Any ideas on how to make the layout a bit more exiting without doing to much?

OK. Totally new layout. Better? http://www.wilthil.com/foregolf/index.htm

I say give 'em both options. Create one with all the parts secluded out, and also let them take a look at the one you've already done.

I'd say the better of the two would be to seperate everything out--makes it a web site, as opposed to a web print ad, yaknow?

As far as making it more exciting, I guess there are a few things I might do.

The background color and the color of the buttons, though both green, aren't in the same family of greens, so says my derelict eyes. You might want to make them in the same scheme, or make them complimentary, though not both green, colors.

The headers for all the options could be changed to make them more interesting--drop shadows, in my humble opinion, look like the font/image shook dirt off onto the page. They look dirty, I guess is what I am trying to say. <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif">

The header at the very top--blends from black into a saturated green, and doesn't look like it's integrated into the page. I say have it fade from that green into the green of the background color instead of black--it'll look less blocky that way.

The footer at the bottom of the page doesn't seem to be placed right. It's a huge big black dark thing sitting on a pleasant white background with beige sidebars. Might want to think about secluding it into a new row without the white and beige.

Speaking of beige, those lighter happier colors seem to come out of nowhere when they hit in the middle of the page--kinda makes it offbalance. Might want to chose a more washed-out green instead of the orange. Just a thought.

Nice design, though. Clean and to the point.

You made some very good points. I'll put some more work into it.

I must say, the replies I get in this forum are so different from the other forums I have visited. Here everyone seems to be more mature and professional. I am so sick of forums full of 18 year old "professionals" thinking they know best.

Thanks twItch.

Actually Awilthil, I dont want to help you out at all <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif"> Actually it looks good the way it is, I suggest keeping everything on the one webpage because with the lil content it makes things easier to find things. I guess.

To late now. I've allready added a column with a tartan background. I'll change the layout a bit, but maybe I'll keep it all on one page. Havent decided yet. Thanks.

Quite a clean looking site!

I'd split the pages though, definitely. That's what makes it a website. If you get too much on one page your attention span drifts and people reach for the buttons. More pages makes it that little bit more interactive.

With your rollover buttons - they just stay the same colour when you move along them - do they need a rolloff option adding as there's no definining them once all lit - you're probably working on this, so excuse me if you are.

Good basics though - they should like it!

I think it is a good straight forward layout,
whether to split it or not is up to the customer I think.. could do.. but there isnt that much content so as it is at the moment works for me...

the only thing I don't like is that you have used 'scan lines' on 2 out of 3 images? Either use them on all 3 or none at all.. (my personal opinion is not at all)...

also agree with a lot of what Twitch said.. good comments...

Ok. I have decided to split it up into separate pages. I have also changed the layout. Tell me what you think.

I like this version better. It's a simple, but nice and clean layout. And the colours looks good too.

Oohhh...this one me likes a lot! Few comments, though, so you don't think you're perfect--are any of us?

First and foremost, the "home" and "about" sections are the same section... Might want to either A) kill the "about" section and leave it as "home" or B) use your copy-writing skills and write a little blurb about the company in the "home" section, something along the lines of "We're the most super-keen-neato-fantastic touring company in the world" or something along those lines. You know the deal.

Second, the links at the bottom--for you and your web site... Normally, you'd just put "site designed by Andreas Wilthil" where your name would simply link to your web site. It'd make more sense, and pulls more page hits over to you. If they want to contact you, they'll figure out how to after they see your portfolio other than this one, yea?

In the "Special Offers" area, you might want to capitalize all the words in the header, so it's "Autumn Special Offers" instead of "offers". That's a piddly thing, though.

In the "Links" area, I'm rather confused. In the Internet world, we all consider links to be links to other sites that are of similar content...this one has no links, and instead is a map of the UK with some funky UK-esque places listed on it...like Turnberry...you guys over there are creepy with your city-names, you know that? Downright creepy. All those names sound like Walt Disney came up with them. Regardless, they don't linkto anything either...so I think a little blurb about what the hell that's all about would help. <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif">

Anyway, fantastic, me likes it much more than the previous version. Excellently done.

Thanks twItch. Yes I know about the links page. It's not finished. I'll make an image map with links to all the courses websites. And I'm not from Scotland. Im Norwegian, so I find all these names as funny as you do <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif">

Good points as usual twItch. <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif"> Nice to get such great feedback. And the funny part is that this site was very easy to design. Just shows us that less is more I guess...
