Hey guys... I'm trying out three new sigs I made in the past two days... I went for less flashy, more artsy.

Fell free to hate them to your hearts' content.

well they're all kind of big... kind of, sort of, like really big.

the first one almost works because it's simple enough, except the text on it is pretty crappy--could be a lot more clear and easy to read.

the second one.. well i like the little boxes and the white outline and the background behind you. text is once again disappointing and i don't really think the effects on you are 'hot as death.'

third one.. blech.

the thing is, they all kind of read like "hey look at me, look at me." i realize i've had .sigs in the past where a picture of me was in them, but i restrained it to a very small portion that you could only see my glasses.. just real selective. these all reak of wannabe modeling poses or whatnot, which is cool and all to slap on your web site if you're into that sort of thing (i'm guilty on my site, i know that much) but i don't think on a message board is an optimum place to be throwing around such pictures..

maybe it's just that they're all so damn big. the simplicity of the first one is pretty cool, just smaller and more selective of subject matter... i dunno.

number one looks unfinished to me..

number two looks very good.. I like that one the most as a sig... colour is great

number three... on my monitor is very dark and hard to distinguish, however, that said, I do like it also , but it could be more of a movie poster than a sig....

overral number two has my thumbs raised HS... the only negative is size, all are overly large, but I figure you know that so no point flogging a dead horse!!!

(its still gonna take some getting used to not thinking of Human Shield sig as being the skin and eyeball.. heh but change is good right?)

I like the second one quite a lot, the text doesn't work for me either though and the shadow of your face on the arm is unfortunate. I meant to say something in another thread about the 2nd one, it's nice.

The second one looks cool, I think you should stretch it length wise and make it more narrow. I dont really care for the other ones too much though. None of them are really as nice as your skin sigs tho ... just my $.02

Yes, I was having fun with my camera... considering I have nothing else to photograph, I got three photos of me and a ton of the bike path outside my apartment, which I then blended together for each... :P Look at me! Look at me! Well, I am human, so including me in my sig certainly works with my theme...

I guess I don't understand what's wrong with the text, but oh well.

The text looks bad becuase it gots so much Anti-Aliasing on it, and it has that kinda 'Look...I can use a default font' look to it, and it's outta keeping with the style of the picture behind it. Where as the third one, although I don't like it, has a more Gothic, city look to it, where the times new roman fits in really well.

Hmm, okay. Actually, none of the fonts used are standard default fonts, but oh well.

I originally took the photos in an attempt to make a 3D mesh of a head, but let's just say the mesh ended up looking like a droopy soggy mess rather than a face.

The best pictures to use for a 3D Model reference ar a dead on Mug shot, and a straight on profile shot. other than that, you need to start small when doing organic modelling. Try using one of the organics tutorials at http://www.3dcafe.com , especially the one about modelling a head from a sphere.

Or, if you REALLY wanna get an accurate model of your head, go buy a laser model scanner...they'll only cost you a measley AU$150,000.00. Ya Know, pocket change.

I have a headon shot and a side shot... the first two "sigs" (which I don't plan to use in these forums ... much) use shots where I tried to get a good side shot but it's hard to hold the camera at the correct angle and not look to make sure you're aiming it at you. :P I've looked at all the tutorials about head meshing many times over. I've actually found that I can get a better looking mesh (one that actually looks like a face!) if I just do it without anything to base it on.
