Okay, Okay,
my 1st site I asked to have reviewed really blew...
(see "Doing a project for my friend..." topic) -

But hey, that's why you ask other people for opinions.

Try lookin' at this:
http://www.kevincar.net/users/carothers

and tell me if I'm on a good track or not-

Just in case you're interested, it's a 3' long Bearded Dragon
lizard on my shoulder :-)

PS-
I STILL can't get tables to display right with Netscape -
anyone have a clue for the clueless on this little
matter?

PPS-
The "guest book" message doo-hickey (Lower left corner) needs
testing - I'ts a perl script, so if anyone can kill it (via normal usage), I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,

KC

well, like 40% of the rest of the normal web population, i use 800x600. i cannot hit "submit" for your message form.

your logo looks horrible with the color scheme of the site.

the color scheme itself is waay too bright. the thin yellow line looks totally out of place, as does the brown text.

most people are used to the logo taking them back to the main page, not as an email link.

you need to add a bit of a margin/padding around the text appearing within the table.

frames (in general) are yuckie. you should consider making it into tables.

other than that, its fairly good for a beginner.

If the msgbook thingy isn't in it's own separate frame, the whole browser window updates - that looks even more weird. I chose the least distracting (that I know of) programmatic solution.

All your points are well-taken, though; and yes I AM a beginner at web design -
Although I've been programming for 25 years! the programming part is actually
more of a hinderance than a benefit, I'm discovering - too much left-brain activity.

considering there is not much content on the page i see no point in frames...not that i think frames are alright with a lot of content...i hate frames...

i don't like the color scheme at all, but if it suits you, enjoy!...

try to align all of the tables so that they are the same width and height etc...it should bring a little more balance to the page...

i agree with la'dsasha regarding the logo...

keep it up...

Add some curves. Too many straight lines and harsh corners.

Reguarding the color scheme, theres a thread going in the Ozones forum concerning colors. Theres a few good links posted there. I think you should check it out, cause well your color scheme is um, less then appealing.

That yellow line you have going over the top of your navigation is very hard to see. Try making it more of a contrast or taking it out all together.

Your Kevincar.net graphic is very out of place. Try redoing it.

I'm afraid I can't add anything that hasn't already been said.......except that I too loathe frames......

Good start though, keep at it........

I found a good resource for designing color schemes:

http://www.hidaho.com/colorcenter/cc.html

Try it- It's a good tool (IMO).

i think this one is better: http://www.colorschemer.com/online/

it shows a sample of colors that look good together, based on which swatch you pick.

Nooooo! I've been working on a page that does just that! I guess I was not as clever and innoative as I thought I was

And this page is better than mine, to make things even worse Though I guess my page does have some featurs this one lacks...

And bad google for not finding this one when I searched...

Okay, I'm probably wearing out my welcome here, but...

could you tell me (pretty please) what you think of THIS one?

http://www.kevincar.net

believe it or not, it's my poetically-licensed interpretation of
all the things you homies have been beating me over the head with
for the past week:

1. more curves,
2. less crappy colors,
3. better logos
4. less crappy colors,
5. 800x600 resolution capability
6. less crappy colors,
7. only use flash if you know what you're doing

and, last but not least, less crappy colors,.

I think that is looking much better from the original. Those are much less crappy colors The dark blue and green logo could be better matched to the background color but it's not too bad. Perhaps you could choose one more color for highlights?

I really glad to see you not running away from here but rather taking the criticism and learning from it. Keep it up!

...and how can you wear out a welcome to an asylum? We have all been committed! Muhahahaha!
