I dont think it is necessary but is a personal taste. I also think that all your graphics could be optimized further to help on the download time. I am still a 56k'er and your splash page took a fair amount of time to load, let alone your main page in the pop up. That said.. I like your style.. its clean... there was some misalignment problems with your frames.. gaps etc in NN4.76 fyi.. could have been worse ~Vp~

I really like your design. The blues work well for me.
