recently i use dreamweaver 3 to do some work ......not very clear how to do ...
when i type chinese in the dreamweaver window ,then push "f12"to preview,
...the word in the explore 5.5 appear to very strange code ,
can someone tell me why?

The only thing I can think of is that you don't have Chinese characters installed in IE. Try going to Tools > Internet Options. Click the General tab and look at the bottom, there is a Languages button down there. Click that and make sure you have Chinese installed. If not just click the Add button and add it.

but........i have install chinese ...mabe i should install hongkong and taiwan font?

Did you set the correct character set with <META> tag, so that web browser can automatically switch to that language?

Possible <META> tags for Chinese language are:

<META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=GB2312"> (GB 2312 / GB-encoding)
<META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=hz-gb-2312"> (GB 2312 / GB-encoding)
<META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=big5"> (Big5 / HKU)
