I have taken some of the suggestions that were passed along to me. If you would please let me know what you experts think before I go much further.

Thanks

even though threep flinched at ever being categorised as an 'expert' - he feels he fits betting in the group of 'obsessive web users' - he decides to post his opinion anyway:
"C DRIVE?!?!? HOW THE F*^K DID YOU GET INTO MY C DRIVE! STAY THE F*%K OUT!"
realising his error, he quickly adds: "uh, forget i said that!"
threep calms himself down, and settles back into the site.
"im working off first impressions here cprompt - and 'tidy' comes to mind. the first thing that i don't like is the blur on the edges of the blue squares - i think you should either make it sharp, or a nice, long gradient - that fades right into the page (maybe even at different lengths for each row...), because right now, it looks kinda..." threep searches his limited vocaabulary for the right word - conventional? filtered?
"tacky. not super tacky, mind you - the nice colors definitely avoid that, but still a little tacky."
looking at the site's title, he adds:
"the narrow bit on the 'c' and the 'o' of 'c prompt' are a little too thin and jagged for my liking. are you using photoshop? if so, play with the antialiasing options, and set to 'strong', perhaps."
clicking further into the site, threep is alarmed, and asks - "ummmm... you DO plan on applying the same design to all pages, aren't you? just thought i would check..."

looking at the mouseovers once more, he puts in one last criticism, a very minor one: "that light grey color that the text goes kinda makes it look like its an inactive link. IMO, such mouseovers that change color should change to a color that makes it stand out even more, not less - it points in the direction that the user can go...."
deciding its time for bed, threep signs off:
"all in all, nice work, c prompt. i have to say that i love simplistic websites that are done cleanly, and yours is mightly close to fitting the bill."

Arrr yeah. well it looks... plainish.. And i don't like the way you've used grey.. it doesn't support the blue tones. Either get rid of it or add more areas of grey

Found this on your page...

quote:
Here we wait...and wait...and wait...
When will it all come together is the quesition
Until then we wait! *sigh*

I just realized that I have to make another icon. This is getting redundant!

Having an area like this on your page is fine but I have no bloody idea who you are or what you do with your life. I can't read your mind and I sure as hell can't figure out what your saying in your 'virtual signs' section most of the time either!

Oh, and your HTML and CSS sections rendered really poorly on IE 5, so you should fix these...

Ohh 2, and the DHTML menu??? I ask why? you don't need it do you? The page would look much better if you just had a list of options rather than having to click on a heading with only 2 sub options (that are poorly spaced) and then click on the link you wanted to go to. Yeah, your navagation need's redoing...

Did that sound harsh? eh.. I'm in a shitty mood today >(

I like the animated c:\news>_

I am so for any variants on whitespace. I love empty, clean, fresh space.

So, I liked the old version much more than this one. heh. Call me mean, but that silly border is...silly.

Yeah, I hate the border. I preferred the other small image to the border on this one, it feels all closed in, and the blue tiles aren't that great for putting all over the whole page, they looked better in one concentrated area. White space is better, especially on the left of the page.

The animated underscore needs to be slower. Maybe half as fast. It's too distracting at the moment.

I like the vertical line, but make sure there's some space above and below it, and maybe move it to the left a bit.
