Hope you've had your dinner/breakfast/lunch before you visit this site. It may be what I have to work on if I take the new job I'm considering. I'll have to be very diplomatic and, welll, see for yourself...

In my opinion, it needs a complete re-write. If I am the one to do this, I need some advice...where do I start?

Allewyn: Well I suppose the advantage is that you won't have too many qualms about scarping what they have and starting from a clean slate (although you can keep the metatags!!). Keep us informed of your progress.

OK y'all, you aren't helping Allewyn at all! He has a case of "brain freeze" and rightly so...so would I!

Step 1 . . . take some paper (maybe a big sheet of butcher paper, ) and make a site map of everthing that exists now.

Step 2 . . . talk to the client and find out what part of this mess you are doing a remake on.

Step 3 . . . determine what the "real" logo of the company is.

Step 4 . . . find out what the focus of the site is, cars, finances, or computer services.

Step 5 . . . whatever the focus, surf the web for those type of sites, and get some good ideas from them.

Step 6 . . . come back here to report your progress and get more help and ideas.

Good luck! This one is a doozy, but should be very rewarding once it is finished. Regardless of what you do, it should be much better than it is now and the client should be overjoyed.

If there is anyway you can let someone else help with graphics you might give contact me...that is what I like best.

Thanks for the encouraging ideas people! i'm over the initial shock now, lol, and already have ideas of what I'd want to do. Like ya'll said it's a blank page...I'll start on the site map today and keep you posted.

Allewyn: Sorry I forgot about the your request for ideas. The problem is that I'm not sure what the page is even for. Is it a portal to similar sites owned by the company? If so I'd go for something quick loading and relatively simple (although you'll have to discuss specifications with the client). Simple title and a brief outline of what each page is about (add the graphic in there as well - link it in). So a couple of columns. Some text explanation. Keep it simple.

Sketch out a few ideas and post them here and we'll let you know which we like (but you know that bit already!!).

Yah, that first stinker is a portal to subsites about different auto makes and, I assume, sites that Butler is in bed with (insurance, title service, etc.). I'm doin the map and I'll get back to you here what's happening.

I've got ideas about the logo too. Just not sure they want one yet. Actually not sure of anything yet, just trying to get ahead of them a little so I can actually show them something when they bring up the subject. You knkow, impress them
