This might be some what of a silly question but what is the limit to the amount of keywords that can be displayed in the Meta Tags, or is there a limit?

I think that it is 250. You can have as many as you want, but search engines will only scan the first 250. Or is it 25?

OK, according to this it is 250.

250? I was thinking about 10-15 words.

Anyone, yet another silly question:

If search engines place more emphasis on an emphasized text style, if I was to restyle my h1 tag to look like regular text via CSS, would this still have the same effect?

I'm trying to improve a websites standings in search engines. They want to be in the top 3 and I'm having a tough time.

I was under the impression it was 25.

To get to the top in Google, you need people to link to you.

Hi.

The search engines read the HTML, not the CSS, therefore a H1 tag styled to look like any other text would be considered as "the most important headline".
The problem comes when you do it the other way around, style regular text with a SPAN to look like a H1, that one the search engines can't read correctly.

I've written some stuff about this here: http://www.dmsproject.com/test/gurustexts/design_8.html
It's a preview of a coming tutorial on the gurusnetwork.

its not 250 WORDS, it is 250 characters including commas...

I been doing lots of research about this lately.

also, what you can do is have like 10 keyword tags. in each meta keyword tag, list different keywords.

but becarefull...some search engines will ignore your site if you have more than 250 CHARACTERS
