Right now I am at school and extremely bored. I thought it might be a good idea to see what other people do when they are extremely bored. What websites do you visit? What do you do to keep occupied? but the catch is: you are not on your own computer. You are on a computer that has only the internet. This is harsh. Whats everyone think??

Go into Goggle or a search engine...... look up a word or subject that interest *you* and surf the pages.

There are lots of online games you can play that you don't have to download

mmm....l yes... good call Shi..... going to a seach engine is always good.

In situations like those, I just browse through all my favorite sites and read up on the updates.... that'll take up an hour or so.

I prefer to try to write something though.
Just one of those creative writing things..... sit and just keep writing for a half hour straight.... let your mind wander.

Need something to write about?... look up a painting on google... and write about the painting.... you'll learn somethig from what you write... I can almost gaurentee it.

Go look up Fracis Bacon. Then think. Then write.

Fun.

Well, I go to this website: www.ozoneasylum.com
and
www.terrypratchettbooks.com and go to their forum as well. I usually just switch back and forth between the too. The other site uses UBB too so it's great.

Other than that it's pc.ign.com or www.pricewatch.com

Actually, I was at the school computer lab once and they only had PS 5.0 LE, which sucked. But I had some time to kill so i fired up the program and the paintbrush and smudge tool and came up with this:
original.jpg
Hell, I've even fired up paint when there's nothing else to do on the computer. The limitations of the program are great because they let you concentrate on the colors.

I find boredom to only be a problem when you focus on "boredom" itself. The search engine idea is good...just let your mind wander without expectation. You will be surprised.

I also frequent www.wastedyouth.org -good resource for design subjects, links and so forth.

There are also many entertainment sites for a breif stay...www.icebox.com...oh and I also will go to www.flashkit.com and click on the featured sites link. They keep a monthly archive of the best flashsites on the net.

Hope that sparks something....

By the way...never under estimate (one word or two! Idunno) the power of silence...take 20 minutes to chill...no people, no phone, no nuttin! You will be surprised by the things that become clearer in your life!
(like how to spell underestimate!)

Use the boredom as an opportunity to come up with an original design idea. Get out some paper and jot down some awesome new web page design. Don't waste your time, use it to CREATE!

Oh, and when I can't follow my own advice, you will find me here

Lately I've been reformatting my hard drive and painstakingly re-installing all the software, including re-downloads. It's been so much fun that I've considered doing it for others. No problems needed, just rebuild the damn thing from scratch, starting from DOS6.22, upgrade to Win3.1, then Win95, then Win98. Great fun!!

Man, you're cheating by starting with MS-DOS 6.22. DOS 3.3/Windows 1.0 is the right way to start. Get your 5-1/4" floppies out.

The company I work for just cleaned out their supply cage, and started giving away all the leftover crap - there were about 10-12 cases of blank 5¼" floppies.....wow.
