Well... I am one of the new kids in the asylum. And I think I just missed something significant in the posts right above mine. :P

I want to thank you all for making this a place I come back to several times a day.

WebShaman, Warmage, Massacre, Mahjqa>> Thank you for your support, criticism, and inspiration with my first animated gif. Our paths have not crossed much since that first thread but I still remember what you gave me. It will not be forgotten.

Eyezaer> I appreciate your humor and talent. I hope our paths continue to cross.

Synax, Weedah, and Dark Garden > I do not remember if we have met in the forum. However, your advice to other people and the artwork you have posted has inspired and assisted me.

Bugimus> Thank you for being a bug like me.

Petskull> You make me laugh. Keep being yourself.

DL-44 > At first I was intimidated by you but I came to realize you are one of the greatest teachers here.

JKMabry > Thank you for being a gentleman.

Grumble> Thank you for the honorable mention.

Doc... Thank you for this forum and thank you for creating the glass tutorial that opened my eyes to the possibilities of Photoshop. It's been over three years since that day, I am still learning.

Doc, you made this whup-ass website for the world to enjoy, and for me to get all the weird ideas in my head out of my head. I owe you one, the Asylum has kept me sane.

Also Doc, you made me a psychotic with less than 200 posts. That has to be a record. I just do the admin stuff, cleaning, shelving, just like in real life, but, uh... not!

Skaarjj, you contacted me on the Internet and told me about the Asylum. Good on ya.

Everyone else is also incredibly great, but I type so slowly that by the time I thanked all the people I wanted to thank, it would be Easter, 2019. That's a lot of typin', so I'll just say this:

I have learned at least one thing from everyone here. This is the reason I come back. I have gone from a window installer to a [at least half-assed] web/graphics designer in a 6 month period with everyone's help here (and some school). You people are my sub-culture, and even though I don't post much, I am here everyday and I still lurk. I have been made to feel better on a bad day here. I have been psychologically enlightened here. I almost feel like we are family. You people have escorted me from gaude to good, and I will never forget that. It would be nice if someday we all were able to meet in person for some kind of organized weekend conference. That would be cool.

The people that have made me feel welcome:

Emperor: From site reviews to small bits of advice, you are an encyclopedia and a friendly one at that!

WebShaman: Interesting posts and experiencial offerings.

DL-44: You are a virtual goalie, keeping bad taste and stupidity out; originality and creativity in.

InSiDeR: You have helped me to convince myself that stupid questions and comments really are a part of the learning experience.

InSiDeR - down boy. In much the same way as you saw your first year in the 'Freedom' thread (and why everyone was trying to get through to you), so is that a 'learning experience' for many others... Sometimes, it takes an external 'hitch' to bring a realization onto someone...

You've stuck it out till now...let's hope that you will learn even more in this year...

However, I've archived some of the older threads...hehe...just ta keep ya humble!

In your case...just seems to be growing pains...at least, I hope so...

Could the timing of this thread be any cooler? Since I was on the verge of my 3000th post, I wanted to take some time and contribute to this thread as I reflect back on the time I've spent here since 03-16-2000.

This may get a bit long but you're just going to have to deal with it

DocOzone - Doc, we have rarely talked directly but it almost seems like that isn't even necessary. Early on I felt very much at home here and that feeling has only gotten stronger since I was first admitted. I want to thank you so very much for keeping this place going and making this all possible. I remember a post a couple of years ago where you typed the words, "I love you", referring to all of us. You said at the time that it wasn't the kind of thing you type easily and I'll never forget it. I can safely say that I have come to love the Asylumites too. And now I want to thank some directly.

mr.maX I love your expertise and your willingness to help so many so often.

Slime You possess excellent technical skills and I would not be surprised to be reading very good things about you in the news one day very soon.

DL-44 I once referred to you as 'one of the pillars of the Asylum'. I really meant it because of your steadfastness and dedication to this place. I appreciate your intellectual honesty and I have always enjoyed exchanging ideas with you on the philosophy front.

Emperor From my perspective, you are royal. It hasn't taken you long to shoot to the top of helpfulness around here. And whether you respond to hail Ming or Palpatine, I am very glad to know you.

vogonpoet I love your art and all your cool siggies. You gave me a scare there a while back but you're still here and so all is well.

GRUMBLE You have really been active around here and it seems you are becoming quite good with the coding. Don't stop and thanks for being a friend.

eyezaer I get a real kick out of your love of pears and even more out of your love for the Lord. This place wouldn't be the same without you.

Jestah Shortly after 9/11 I remember several of us here thinking of you and your safety since we knew you live in NY. I can remember how good it was to read that first post from you saying you were fine.

kretsminky When it comes to politics I've always felt you and I were on the same page. I really respected you for being a teacher because that is such an important job. And now I'm just jealous of you getting to be in so many different places to be ableto take all those awesome pictures around the country.

InI Thanks for all the great work with Java and all the other cool coding ideas you share with us all. Doc said you were a comeback story and I have to agree and I can't tell you how cool it is to know that you are a permanent part of this online family.

WebShaman I feel so much safer knowing that you carry a tomahawk! It was a pleasure participating in the Asylum's first formal debate with you. I never get tired of our discussions in the philosophy section and I hope you're here for a good long time.

Dracusis I believe we've shared some good posts on javascript from time to time and I'm still stoked about having one of your PS creations as one of my SlicePuzzles. And it was my pleasure to read that loooong post on religion and if you ever do it again... well maybe you should cut it down to 1500 words this time

warjournal I don't always respond to your posts in the philosophy section and sometimes I feel bad about it. But rest assured that I read them and you help keep me up to date on the biotech stuff. Thanks for that!

Wakkos Thanks for being well... whacky! You're lots of fun and I was glad you wanted to use my panorama code for one of your pages. Do you remember that post I wrote to you once entirely in Espanol?

InSiDeR Above all, I want to thank you for taking a lot of criticism and using it to grow. Not everyone is willing to do that and I look forward to seeing you continue on that path. Thanks for the great debate too!

bitdamaged Did you know that you were referred to as a "cyber coding god"? Check this out!
DHTML ANSWERS AT THREE IN THE MORNING
Thanks for the coding expertise!

Michael Thanks for your service, really. I have your sock puppet movie on my desktop and watch it periodically when I need a smile. Thanks for you kind words and thanks for starting a thread like this. With all the crap that happens here sometimes, a thread like this can do a world of good and I'm sure it has!

JKMabry Your friendship has been a true blessing. It's people like you who make this world a better place to live. If your'e ever out this way we've got to hookup!

twItch^ Carrots and lotsa coffee! You have great design advice for those willing to listen and you are difficult to ignore. So even though we're not the closest of online friends, you have to be on my list. Early on we had a few "run ins" I suppose but we got through those and I don't know if you know this but... a while back you had announced you were going away and after a time, you returned and one of the reasons you cited was because of your friends here. You included me on that list and I'm not ashamed to admit that it brought a tear to my eye. I wasn't sobbing, it was just one tear but that should tell you something.

Pugzly You're amazing. It seems to me that you have and endless reserve of energy and the way you can take all these different server-side and client-side scripting concepts and smunch them all into very useful sites is to be commended. I was thrilled when I saw that article about you and your work. All I can say is keep it up.

mahjqa Anyone willing to name themselves based on anything Klingon gets my attention. Your meticulous sig designs and artistic eye inspire me.

tomeaglescz I'm really loving the second debate, I can't wait to read more.

NoJive "Political correctness drives me to total distraction" Me too so when I look to the North I see some agreement from a friend.

CPrompt Thanks for all the kind words and I hope we can get to know each other better in future.

Shiiizzzam What 'thank you' post could be complete without thanking our nurse? I love the photography and imagery you have been doing lately, it's simply beautiful as is its creator. I will never forget the outpouring of support that came from here when you were ill. That was a very special event and I would like to think all our prayers and well wishes played a part in your being restored to us.

Suho1004 As you said in your thank you, we hooked up shortly after your arrival and it has been a pleasure getting to know you. Knowing that I've encouraged a brother touches me deeper than you can imagine. I love your insights in our discussions and I am still waiting for that book that you will be writing someday. That post you wrote about your experiences going to Asia was truly riveting.

Jeni I am still in awe of that fist in mouth tute. What can I say? Thanks!

Weadah Your artistic style is inspiring. It is the attention to detail that most impresses me about your work. For me, the amount of intricacy of a work of art increases the pleasure it can give. I wish you all the best in your breedart.org endeavors.

DarkGarden You are one that refuses to yield to "group-think" whether the group consists of two or two million... I believe that is your greatest strength. You have been known to whack a few people around but you don't do it gratuitously, it is clear you have a greater purpose in mind. I'm sure that greater purpose is geared towards the growth of the individual in question. I am a great believer in it taking all kinds of people to get it right. You are a crucial part of that "team" we call the Asylum. I won't even bother mentioning specifics about your artistic prowess for that can only be described as legendary.

mikey milker I don't like to lose anyone from here and I'm glad to see your name around again regularly. I voiced an email opinion to you during some friction shortly after 9/11 and I said exactly what I wanted but it was never intended to hurt but only to keep dialogue flowing. I never knew how you received it but I wanted you to know that.

Wes You've always struck me as someone who has a unique outlook on life and I have enjoyed it on several occasions. I can definitely see your style gracing some form of broadcast someday. I look forward to it.

Witherin Thanks for getting a score of 36 on the SlicePuzzles, it's been matched a couple of times but never bested and you were the first one to do it. Kudos!

RammStein Thanks for trusting us enough to share part of your life with us. I have found this place to be very supportive when some of our number need some uplift.

Nimraw Right back at you about stimulating philosophy discussions, it was a pleasure and I hope we can have more in future.

Kriek Thanks for staying and growing, I never get tired of witnessing that process.

Fig I know a brother when I come across one, thanks for being strong in that. Ain't apologetics fun?

Moth Us insects have to stick together! Don't let Doc's tag line get to you about "specialization is for insects". There are exceptions to that rule.

Metahedron I really appreciate your presence here and I hope you find time to visit us often. We haven't always agreed on things but I believe we've always benefitted from bouncing ideas of one another. Thanks for the awesome discussions and most of all that kick-butt sig you made for me!

Gilbert Nolander It's a pleasure to have you around the philosophy section. Keep coming up with those obscure links I would never find on my own. And please steer clear of that maniac sniper!

beaner You're new here and I hope to hear more from you as time goes by. I want that PS2 hosted site!!!

BeeKay Well, I can't thank you enough for taking the time to actually propose, structure, and pull off a formal debate here in all places an Asylum! What an accomplishment! I look forward to more exchanges in future.

bunchapixels Ok, so I still think of you as such. Thanks for being a gentle spirit here, we can always use that sort of thing. And I'll always see that pixel guy on the Asylum Yearbook and smile.

CarltonCig Thanks for the honest exchange of ideas from time to time. While the dolls are a bit creepy especially now that I have a little girl, I really think the one in the gold dress was beautiful.

counterfeitbacon It was an honor to debate along side you. Respect.

mas I love the ladybug image you made for me. It rocks and I've got it on my sig collection page.

DocCyber Thanks for the entertainment.

Apok ditto

ZOX Thanks for the awesome colours they make my web-whirl.

lallous Thanks for finding the HolyGrail of loading external content into NN4 dhtml windows, that was superb.

Malin Thanks for being half of a successful Internet love story. When people tell me Internet relationships never work, I can smile and know they're wrong

mobrul=integrity. I couldn't agree more with most of your ultimate goals and couldn't disagree more with how you want to achieve them. I love ya! and don't you ever chang.... well err, there's always that sliver of hope. But seriously, thanks loads for the excellent exchanges and I look forward to many more.

Rick Thanks for being a good friend across the sea, I wish you were here more.

Schitzoboy I think this has got to be *the* funniest thing I have ever read in all my time here, "Truth be known though, I'd probably shit my pants, then i'd spend the next 4 mins crying because not only am I going to die, but I have to spend the last 4 mins of my life in pants that I shat in." Thanks so much for that.

Somewhere along the way I get the feeling that you're like a wonderland vision in my mirror. I'm consistently stunned when I read your glowing optimism and genuine regard for the people at large.

I'm stunned because with you I never take it as blind stupidty: I take it as researched conviction. I know that I often think that we live in seperate realities, but I'll say this much:

You make your reality very tempting...and quite a bit fascinating just by being there. I couldn't ask for a better foil, or a man that I'd respect more even on the other side of the glass at times.
