Here's the deal folks....
A lot goes on at the Asylum.... good, bad, and fuckin' ugly.

Here's a thread to post something to a few other Inmates that says "hey thanks" for the personality, knowledge, humor, or something else that they bring to the Asylum with their posts, and presence.

So I guess I'll start off... I don't know how many people will add to this list... we'll see.

To Emps - Thanks again for the work you've done in keeping the FAQ fresh in everyone's mind... and for continually adding to it.

To Petskull - Lately, you've doled out some "one-liners" that have had me hunched over laughin'... good stuff man.... it's appreciated.

To izzay - your dedication to PS since my first day at the ozone. your stuff rocks, man.. and without a doubt, will continue to. (pears are in the mail)

I've got plenty more... but that's just a ball that I hope gets rollin'.
We're all pretty good at bitchin' at each other........ I'm interested at how good we can be at being nice to each other.

Indsier: If this is supposed to be a thread about complimenting each other, why would we be flaming you? Bit of friendly advice mate, but don't assume that every thread that involves saying things about other people is going to involve people saying bad shit about you.

Anyway...on with the show.

Izzy & Mahjqa: You two come up with some of the most inspirational work I have seen in a long time. You manage ot capture the true and utter wierdness if this palce in some of your works that I think we should start wallpapering the asylum with them.

DL-44: I would personally like to thank you for pulling all of us up short when we bugger something up, or when we say something wrong. We make mistakes, you help us learn from them.

Skaarjj, originally I was gonna thank everyone, but then I decided it can wait, so the don't flame me part is simply saying,

"please dont flame me for what I am about to say even though it might be ill mannered and inconcievably ignorant"

Sorry, really I guess I shouldn't have posted that.

Oh what the hell...

First things first.

Bugimus: Man, I love you! When I first came here and I skimmed through, I clicked on your sig and adored your website, it inspired me so much! You are a very talented man, very cool, and you like Monty Python! I respect you as a christian more than any other christian I have ever met. I enjoyed the debate with you. You, are very admirable. You should be proud of yourself.

Slime: You helped me get over some problems in the past, and some coding problems too, and I loved your site as well! And your babies rock! , but you never had a sig , I also hope to be as mathmaticaly inclined as you.

Jestah: You stuck up for me when no one would. Thanks.

WebShaman: First I just want to thank you for not attacking me with your tomahawk when I posted a sucky post in the god debate. <yoda voice>You are very wise!</yoda voice>. You, are more human than human... You are very up-to-date on your politics and global events knowlege. You own...

Izzy, Mahjqa, Weadz, DB, WJ, DG: Your skills in PS have astounded and amazed me, I have learned so much from all of you and hope to someday be as graphicaly inclined as you. Keep up the good work.

DG: ...

Well DG, to be perfectly honest with you, you are the most talented man I have ever come across. I admire your artistic ability more than anyone, ever. You are one of the most intelligent people I have met, and even though you flamed me once or twice,... or several times... I hope to someday measure up to your capabilities.

Jamie:
~Airhug~
I hate you.
I love you too!
But I hate you.
But you have helped me more than anyone else, and I can't even fathom enough to describe how, but mostly emotionally.
Thanks.

I wanna thank Doc for making this place available - without it, even this thread would not exist.

Man, so many people to compliment... appologies if I leave anyone out!

Michael: man, we're ALWAYS talking about something. And it's ALWAYS interesting. I was shocked as hell getting that first message from you. I never saw it coming. Thanks for the inspiration and ears to listen with.

DarkGarden: you've probably given me more advice than my own parents. Your shiny head has more wisedom in it than the oldest of old monks in Tibet. Thanks for the inspiration and thanks for putting up with my nagging. It also makes me feel all warm inside when you're looking for my comments on certain unreleased pieces. Now fuck it, finish that damn pong match!

Izz: Two words buddy: same brain!

Emps: You're a crazy, crazy man. And there's no end to how much work you do in a day. It's fun to try and match wits with you and I always leave a conversation laughing about something you said. Even if it was "Poppycock" ... heh. You're also the first person I came in contact with at the Asylum.

Weadah: Man, you've been gone now, for what - a month?! What can I say? You're the man. You have more skill than you let yourself admit. And you have great weed recipies!

I also want to say thanks to docilebob, Jeni, GRUMBLE, DarkShadow and Jason. You know

another major prop .. all the Inmates of this place rock .. yes there are ups and downs and differences but at the same time .. it wouldn't be an Asylum(community) if we didn't have those .. you all rock as well!

I just realized this was my 500 post!!! .. and what a way to have a 500 .. spreading the Asylum Love .. oh nurse .. where are those "oh I feel so good" pills .. hehe

Well, I have many to thank...and praise.

First, to Doc...I wouldn't be here without you. From Hands-on, to the GN, to here...a big thanks.

Next, to DarkGarden...I actually was visiting the Path regularly...until it 'died'. That was before coming to the Asylum...seems like ages ago. So, thanks for creating the Path...maybe, someday, you'll bring it back...and maybe, someday, you'll authenticate me on ICQ... . Yeah, right...

Bugs - can't say enough about Bugs. Though our beliefs are radically different, we seem to be able to 'connect' anyway...he is also one of the hardest Debating opponents I've ever faced...kudos. You sure kept me under pressure, and made me work, and learn. I'll always be thankful for that...

Shii - for being the nurse, and all-out good person that she is. Thank you.

Drac - for being the proof that hard work and curiosity pays off, in the end. Kudos. You've come a long ways, and I expect that you will go further yet.

BeeKay - for contributing to the Asylum...and many other things. Thanks.

Emps - can't forget Emps...I just don't know where he gets the energy to do all that he does...thanks for everything, here, and at the GN. Know that you are appreciated...

Tom - well, what can I say? For some reason, you come to mind...maybe it's because I need to send you some material for the Ripperreport...but also, because you work hard...kudos.

JKMabry - for first helping me back then at the GN...and (I think) pointing the way to here...in any regards, thanks.

Michael - you were Taxon, right? A big thanks for first 'showing' me the ropes, as I first came here. Probably saved me from a lot of 'adjustment' pain...you may call me Ray...but only you. Thanks.

Mahjqa - for having the most difficult to pronounce name in the Asylum...just kiddin'! No, a big thanks for 'animating' us all...and 'pixelizing' us...and 'burning' us...and, and, and...kudos.

DB - you know why you are in the list...because of your thick fingers, of course! Who doesn't have that problem with the keyboard? Seriously though, for being the person that you are...and for setting an example for the rest of us to follow...thanks.

Mr. Max - Thanks for all the code. So many posts, so many helped. Kudos. And, of course, the best tech support for a program that ever has been. Thanks, Mr. Max!

Master Suho and Njuice - thanks for all the good times...

To all the others that I missed...thanks.

Man, I just love this place...

*steps up to podium clutching golf trophy*

I want to start out by thanking the good ol' Doc, without him, we all wouldn't be here (which begs the question: is he Dog?).

DL - I've grown a lot more fond of your teaching style as my times goes on. As someone once said around here, bang on. I can't imagine how many times I've been about this close to posting a simple, stupid little thread about something that was so easily answered in either the archives, FAQ, or (imagine this) the manual, and have caught myself knowing almost exactly the response I'd get. Whether you meant to or not, you've taught me much.

Dracusis - Much thanks for taking some time out of your day to help someone make something to be proud of. Speaks volumes about the person, really, and I'm not sure if I thanked you properly before, so I'll do it again now. Thanks.

Kine - Thanks for all of your input you've given me in my work, and helping me build my skills against yours on the clay. You've got a lot of talent, and it shows - glad to be a playing partner, moreover, a friend.

WebShamen - Always there with the peacepipe, willing to have a laugh and shoot the shit. At the same time, you remain intelligent and thoughtful, which I've found is rather rare to find on the net nowadays. Is a pleasure knowing ya.

Suho - One day I'm going to show up at your doorstep, and you'll be stuck wondering who this white kid with glasses is doing knocking on your door at 3 in the morning. Think I'm joking? I'm up to $45.70... $45.76. You good people, Massa.

Mikey - Turned me onto Hot Hot Heat... what else can I really say?

This was rather hard to write out, I don't exactly want to keep anyone off the list after all. But over everything else, I'd like to thank the Asylum as a whole, for helping me build my artistic level further than what I've even dreamt of. It sometimes goes without a showing of appreciation, but the tutorials posted on threads on a technique, the hints, the helpful input regardless of remoteness to myself, still help me out. Hell, I'd buy you all a round.

Bob - Watching your dedication to improving your skills has truely inspired me to get off my ass. You've also been a delightful soul to shoot the shit with.
Emperor - I'm trying to remember this place before you came along and well, I just can't. Your contributions here and otherwise (ie saving my ass) have been breathtaking.
twItch^ - You've been a fantastic friend and a wonderful teacher to me. I hope I can make you proud.
Weadah - I don't think I need to pump that ego BUT I appreciate your commitment to beauty. You create beautiful things and I admire that.
Michael - Thank you for befriending me.
Darkgarden - Thank you for being a voice of reason and a wonderful listener. And yeah, you paint pretty.
mikeymilker - I actually bought that 28mm-90mm wide angle zoom lens yesterday. Thanks for the inspiration.
synax - you're alright

Emps: Thanks for the thoughts the comments, and the challenge of getting the asylum team project off the ground.

INI: Your work continues to amaze me, i know we had our differences in the past, but the work you do is right there at the top of the stack, good luck and continued success with ya pocket photoshop and everything ya do, you know how to mix the coding side and the creative side of things, its a rare talent be proud.

DB:Thanks for the help the inspiration and i will get those photo's to you for that bhopal thing times has just caught up with me of late, damn i wish Emps would write a tutorial on time management

DG: Your work is a neverending source of amazement for me.. Kudos

WS: What can i say, besides being one of the few other people i know working away from home and having put up with some of the same shit as me in r/l.. Your posts are full with wit, wisdom and I hope that the Ripper report turns out the way you wanted and surpasses them. Continued success in what you do.

DL 44: the first time i ever saw ya name was when i downloaded an updated version of hands on, the ione with the taffy tutorial in it. Thankyou for your help criticsms and plain blunt truths, its a style that some might find abrasive but dont change it.

Izzy: Damn what can i say the king of pears and the stuff you have been putting out lately cracks me up.

Maqha: the king of sigs and pixel pics, thanks for sharing with us tutorials that allow us to try and recreate the cool stuff you do.

And thanks to anyone else i missed....

But most of all THANKS EVERYONE for making this the Diverse Colourful resource it is......

Well, it's only been about 3 months that I've been here so naturally, I haven't been around a lot of the people here yet, but I hope to eventually.

Emps - I don't know where you get the time to do everything around here that you do, namely the FAQ. It just boggles the mind. And I second the nomination above for you to write a tut on time management

WS - Always there with something interesting to say, no matter what the post is about. Don't know what else to say but a big thanks to ya.

InI and other coders - Sorry to generalize it like that, but I'm still quite new here and don't remember who's who entirely. But none-the-less, your programming skills are outstanding. Can't count the number of times I've gone through the old threads in the coding forums trying to just absorb all the information I can.

The PS gurus - You know who you all are I love going through the Visual Therapy forums for just that: Visual Therapy. Some of those things you guys (and girls) do in PS are just unbelievable. To be honest, looking at all the pictures you guys make is better than going to any art museum.

Doc - Everything I just said about the others could be combined into one and apply to you. You have an amazing creative ability when creating web sites, then being able to code it all together absolutely blows way any competition. And it's not just once or twice you've done it. The 5k contest, and all the different Ozones interfaces and everything else. I honestly don't know how you do it. Then creating this place and getting it to work as well as it does was simply a stroke of genius perhaps?

And to anyone I forgot (or just haven't met yet) thanks for making this place what it is. There is always something here to make me laugh in the Ozone when I need it, or to get real deep in Philoso-Silliness when that urge arises. Then of course, as I mentioned the Visual forums definately hold their own as well.

Coming here has helped to reaffirm me where I stand in any matters that go on here: very near the bottom of the pile, so to speak. I can only hope that through lots of hard work I can ever measure up to half of what many of you are here.

Will try and add other individuals as I think of them.

mr.maX, Slime, Bugimus, InI, bitdamaged, Pugzly and the other code fellas: For always being there with the right answers at the right time. You guys truly scare the shit out of me with the amount of crap you carry around in your heads. Inspirational seems too weak a word to use here. Gods? Yeah, that about fits the bill. No doubt I'll forever be pushing gratitude and respect your way; and a few more questions to. =)

DarkGarden, DL44, DocileBob, Vogonpoet, DarkShadow, Weadz, Mahjqa, Izzy, Syntax, warjournal, Steve, Phil, Jason: You all give so much. Without you my photoshop CD may as well be a coaster. I can't thank you'll enough for what you've given not only me but the web community at large. The tutorials, here and over at the GN, the tips, the pointers... And all those pretty piccies that helped keep my muse in overdrive for what? 2 years now. yeah, about that....

WebShaman, Wakkos, Michael, Jeni, Wolfen, mikey milker, kretsminky, twItch^, Shiiizzzam, Suho: In no particular order; arrogance, kindness, stipidity, insanity, compassion, dedication, love, ego... personality. What would this place be without the vastly diverse personalties? Dead fuck'n boring, that's what. Thanks for sharing, and for being who you are. This place just wouldn't be the same without you. Thanks for all the kind words. Thanks for not being too nice when I needed to be put in my place. Reading your words, ever so slightly twisted with you individual wit and style, always bring a fresh quality to this place. Did I say thanks yet?

tomeaglescz: Dude, the FAQ!... Man that's some solid shit.
docilebob: Always there with an answer. You've always been kind and willing to help.
DL-44: I savour every word of advice you've ever given me. Thanks.
Emperor: The FAQ just wouldn't be the same without you. You passion to give everyhting you can back to the community is awe inspiring.
vogonpoet: Been miss'n ya.... =(
Dark Garden: The midas man. What I wouldn't give for your fingers? Still, you gave me the next best thing, your opinions and advice.
Bugimus: Code + Kickin design and a humble ego. A hard combo to find in a man by any measure. And I think your the only one that read all of my 3000+ word post about religion some years back.
InI: I don't think I've ever met someone as dedicated to professional excellence as you. My mind boggles in your presence.
warjournal: To the man who ripped through PS with a microscope! Remind be to buy you a beer if I'm ever in your country OK?
Wakkos: Umm.. yah. You scare me.... No no, seriously. You scare me. Seek help... =) This place wouldn't be the same without you.
twItch^: Thanks for that e-mail conversation 2 years back when you beat standards compliance into my head.
Weadah: Thanks for setting the bar higher.
Izzy: An inspiration in so many ways. Thanks for everything you've ever shared. A truely unique man... person.. thing.. pear? Your PS work is totally rockin as of late! Lovin every bit of it.
Jason: Dude, your just way to nice. Thanks for all the encouraging comments and kind words over the past eight months. And yet another inspirational artist that humbles me on a daily basis. I'm glad your here.

Much love and respect to everyone who's ever put something back into the community.

Heh, I always get nervous on a thread like this, you gotta worry, who might I leave out? I'll cheat a little, and not thank any of the other old-farts here, you all know who you are, and what you mean to me. Instead, I'll mention a couple of incredible comeback stories, people who thought that "well, this is it, I've pissed so many people off, now I'm outta here." Ready?

Top score would have to be a tie in my book, between Kreik and InI.

Ini, people might say? Man, you rocked right from the start, but such a burden of enthusiasm you came storming in with, scared the hell out of people! I know of a few times at least you were nearly out of here, farewell speeches and all, but you stuck with it. Lots of folks here couldn't imagine this place without you. Congratulations, you old fart!

Kriek! It's been a while now, and probably lots of people don't remember some of the aliases you arrived with (research, left to the student, heh.) I told you in email long ago, just stick with it, take some lumps and move on, and here you are! Extra points for perseverance, I've got a lot of respect for how you handled yourself after that first wave of controversy. Kudos to you.

Who else, I know there was more? You two are the only ones I pulled from the top of my head, combatting adversity and all that good stuff. Anyone else have someone to add to this list? I've got a feeling that both Petskull and Jestah once belonged on this list, but I can't remember anything, only that they've always been here for me, and this place. (Speak up if I'm misremembering! ;-)

Oh, OK, I'll mention a couple of our oldest and most prolific members. The big 3, our top, 4000+ posters, all quality stuff...

mr.maX http://www.maxworld.co.yu/ Mad Scientist Belgrade, Serbia 4235
Slime http://www.slimeland.com/ Mad Scientist Massachusetts, USA 4023
DL-44 http://in-dented.com Mad Scientist under the bed 4012

Max and Slime, you awe me with your brilliance and patience both! DL-44, the *very* first member of the Asylum, after myself. All three of you have pushed me into new things, I've learned just *gobs* of stuff from you guys!

For the balance, see http://www.ozoneasylum.com/cgi-bin/memberlist.cgi?page=1&sortby=4 - I apologize for not going through the entire list, there's literally hundreds of you who deserve my thanks and praise, consider it given, we'll take it in email, cool? <big wink>

Doc Ozone. Thanks for an environment where the value exchange flows freely.

General thanks to:

Painters - Love you guys. Wish I could devote more time to painting, but family and other things come first. If you folks keep it up, I'll eventually join your ranks. Basically, thanks for the motivation, even if I'm not using it right now.

Females - You girls give me hope. You prove that females can hang with the male geeks. I've always wanted a female computer chic in my life, but I have yet to meet one fact-to-face. Some day I'll have one, even if she is my own daugher. You give me hope.

The folks that mentioned me - You make me feel like some computer geek in the back that's been scripted in for comic relief. It's not a bad thing, because I'm more than happy to play the part. Method acting or something.

I just want to thank a couple people who've helped me the most. There are a few of you who are my friends that I talk to quite often, you know who you are. I ain't gonna thank youz.

Doc: Is the reason I ever bought PS in the first place. I was piddling around with PSP and came across Ozones. Once I saw his tutorials I knew I had to have this Photoshop program, whatever it was.

Peter, Stephen, Wead: These three guys have helped me numerous times when I'd beaten my head against my desk enough to have wood grain on my forehead. Thanks to all of you for your patience with my silly questions.

Jeni, Mike: One day we need to sit down for a few (or lots of) drinks. Until then, cheers!

well shit....
I've got more.... so here some are....

Synax - you fuckin' rock, man. There's too many things that I'd say about you, to fit in a post without my fingers getting exhausted.
Cheers man. *tips a guinness in your direction*

DG - i'll never fully recover from the loss of The Path. You've given me much to think about with each encounter. Thought-provoking barely scratches the surface of what you are to me. Thank you.
With my piss poor memory.... it'll surely be botched, and lost......... but I'll give it a shot: "Communicate, Connect, Flo."

Doc O - I've said my many thanks to you, in the past........... thanks for giving us a place to play.

VP - you're missed, man. Conversations with you haven't been replaced. I'll buy ya two cases of RR whenever we manage to steal some time away from our lives to arrange a meeting.

YoYo Freak - I didn't know those things were possible with a yo-yo. You've been an inspiration. You're dedicated to PS, and right off the bat, with your first winamp skins, you were rockin the house. Keep it up, man....... it helps to push all of us.

Krets - I'd like to thank you for being my bitch. =D And of course.... how could I forget your VITAL contribution to help along the birth of one of the most hilarious, memorable threads, ever. (yes Ray, we're talkin' about you)

Jussi - Man.... I wish you were around more often. I doubt you'll ever even read this thread. But I'd like to say that your continuing effort with both snowboarding and PS interfaces is something that doesn't come so naturally to the rest of us.

Jeni - Well... I've got so much to say.... but I'm sure you'll bust mah balls on all of it. *eats a fuckin cookie* =)

WS - you've endured some harassing from me...... I'm glad you've a light heart.

Nimraw - if you ever refer to me as fuffy-bunny again.... you, and your entire family are getting put my hit list. (tried to slip that in there without anyone noticing one harsh comment amoung the nice ones. =D .... slick eh?)

Shiz - *fat albert voice* hey Hey HEY! ........ too much to say here.... but I'd like to note that you are a terrific "sport" when playing tetris. I've never handed someone so many ass whoopins.... and have them keep on comin', like you do. You'll never measure up to the skill of DL or myself in that game.... and I'm so happy that you can accept your inadequacy........ muahahahahahahaha!
*checks to see if anyone is looking* ..... ~hugs~

Stephen - ~cough~

Milker - I'm glad you're making your way back into this place a bit more...... You bring an element of surprise to everything you get involved in. heh.
hooray for humans - You filled a void. Not as much as I had hoped. Your true colours shown through a few times..... but hey..... we're all human. ~smirk~

Bugs - as I've told you in a few emails........ You're a very intelligent person who presents himself well. I don't always agree.... but you're certainly difficult to argue with. =)

Phil - You were one of the first people to accept me around here. You were an inspiration from day 1 with everything you said to me. thankyou for that.

DL - you're a diva.... uh-huh.

Wakkos - you're a riot, man ............... thanks for picking up the PS pong forum for wead and i when we had to take a break.

JKMabry - you're last painting was absolutely awesome. please keep posting your work... it stands above a lot of other people's. you've got a style..... which is so very hard for some of us to *really* develop.

Fake - you're a young guy with a lot of talent........ it was certainly a pleasure working with you.

Fig - you're a hidden backbone to that animation forum.

Ish - while your stay was ever-so brief. I think you learned a lot.... and I learned so many things from you about how this place worked.

##p1xl - I haven't forgotten about you. You were the first to make me cross that line and step up to say something that wasn't nessecarily "nice". It's all your fault.... look what I've become...... you fucker.

Fuck... well... there's a ton more of you that I want to address...... but I don't think people we be reading all my nonsense.
For the last person I'm going to thank........... it's certainly a case of saving the best for last.

That guy who's from beyond the black stump.
My partner in crime. Hands down, one of the greatest people I've ever had the chance to meet. You're one of my best friends. Endless nights painting and chatting it up about everything under the moon, are times that I will not soon forget.
You've influenced my work more than anyone else here by at least a factor of 50.
I wish that at some point I could give back to you, as much as you've given me...... but I just don't see that ever being possible.
I don't know where you are these days..... I hope all is well.
Cheers man.

And to everyone else....
Cheers for making this thread a bit of a "success".
Keep 'em comin', if ya can.
And while yer at it............ go down to the PS forum and post your work in progresses........... get some feedback from your loving inmates. =)
It's the cool thing to do............... everyone's doing it.

mr.maX - for all his great help, insight and one kick ass program!
Emps - for helping me with some design issues and all your kindness.
Ini - thanks for helping me with my coding and all your great tuts even though I don't always respond, I always read.
Jeni - for being an alright gal that is cool ta hang out with.
JK - well just for liking my name really
Draciuss - you helped me out quite a bit when I came on board and it has really stuck.
docilebod - your PS skills are a great help
Michael - just because you're an alright guy.
twitch^ - your knowledge of "good" web design and typography has helped me out in a great way.
krets - you're a good guy, even though you didn't come to NC for drinks!
DG - you're skills are by far ones that I wish I could come close to
DL-44 - you're honesty is something that I admire. Well, your knowledge too.

There is also a guy that doesn't come around much anymore, but has helped me out recently to the point that I can't really say thanks enough and that is Piper

And of course Doc Ozone for making such a wonderful place happen. This has become the sort of "community" that others could only dream of. The diverse people here and the wealth of knowledge is by far the best on the net. So, thank you very much.

Doc - because of your generosity, you've brought us all together. And it appears you've turned us into a bunch of saps in the meantime. Thank you for everything (and your kitties too because they're cute).
Krets - You make me smile. You and Michael together make me laugh so hard I wanna tinkle (and for the record, I do NOT squat. I don't know if I ever thanked either of you for this, but thanks for giving Webshaman that beating. He deserved it and it was the first time I felt loved here.

I have debated whether or not to make a list as I would like to say something like 'You all know who you are' but I am bad at saying thank you and praising all the great things that go on here which is the product of people having fun and just doing their thing.

I'm going to hope that the people in my list know who they are and instead I'd like to thank everyone - as in your own ways you all make this place special and different. You all have been amazingly friendly and inviting since I first turned up - I also tend to be bad at not reaching out and making first contact but a fair slice of you have been nice enough to drop me a note or contact me over ICQ and it is the friendly community spirit (engendered I'm sure by the Doc and the early inmates) which I find truly impressive. Every now and again someone will upset the balance and other people will declare the Asylum to be finished but it always seems to power on through. Thats because for every person running around and making a mess there are 100s of other new people who just get stuck in and get involved and make this place stronger and better (I sometimes have to check some people's signup dates as they seem like they have been here forever ).

So I'd like to thank you all and thank the Doc for giving us the space (and the inspiration) to build something a little bit special.

You know, I checked this topic out right after Michael posted it, before there were any replies. I've been avoiding it since then because I just don't know where to begin. I mean, how can I put into words the feelings I have for all the inmates here?

There's no way I can write up a list and expect to get everyone. If you find that you're not on the list below, don't be disappointed--this is really going out to everyone who makes this place what it is.

OK, here goes...

Doc: You are truly a great man with a vision, and it amazes me to see what such a man can accomplish. Without you, none of this would exist, and I really can't imagine a world without the Asylum. A simple "thanks," just seems so inadequate...

WebShaman: You were my first friend here at the Asylum. I remember our first encounter--although I don't remember exactly what was said, I remember the atmosphere, and I remember that you were pretty gentle with a newbie who had no idea what he was doing. You contribute a lot to this place, and you're high on my list of people I look forward to seeing here. Pass the peace pipe, man.

Bugimus: You were another early friend. I admire your skills, of course, but more than that I admire the person you are. As a brother in the faith, you've been an encouragement to me (even at times when you probably didn't know it). I have the greatest respect for you and I love to read your posts. And when I get bored sometimes I go try to beat the high score for the White Sands slice puzzle...

Emperor: If I had to describe you in one word, it would be dedication, but even that would be insufficient, I think. I admire you for all the work you do around here, and I really enjoy your site reviews (in fact, I usually try to get in a review before you show up, because if I can't I usually just end up seconding what you said). And on top of that, you're a great guy.

InSiDeR: Suprised to see your name on my list? Don't be--you have an amazing talent for growing on people, or at least on me. Occasionally an annoying inmate will show up, but what made you different was that you stuck around and--slowly but surely--began to grow. I don't mean to sound patronizing, but it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside to see you mature. You're a unique part of the Asylum, and you add your own special flavor to the mix.

DL: Although I haven't had much direct interaction with you, and you definitely have a style that is quite different from mine, I have an immense respect for you. You tell it like it is, and your comments are both incisive and insightful. I often find myself reading your posts and thinking, 'Yep. That's it right there, in a nutshell.' I'm glad you're roaming the halls with the rest of us.

njuice: You bet, man. And when you do get here, I'll have a spare mumu and a couple of ice cold beers waiting. It might be hard to dig up a fat lady 'round these parts, but we'll see what we can do. Thanks for your unique contributions to loonie bin.

Crap... if I keep going like this the list will go on forever... oh well

InI: You have some really interesting things to say in the Philosophy forum, which I appreciate, and on top of that you're a coding whiz and good artist. You've got the whole package!

mahqja: You are definitely not human. I will often sit there in stunned silence looking at your animations. As an amateur animator, you are a huge inspiration.

vogonpoet: You were one of the mainstays when I first arrived here, a pillar of the community. The halls have been duller now that you don't grace them with your presence as often. On the flip side, I'm always psyched to see you stick your head into a thread here and there.

Slime: Obviously, the first thing that comes to mind is the slimies--I've got to admit, I just love them. But you bring so much more to the Asylum as well. Thanks.

izzay: The pears, man... I've never seen anyone love a piece of fruit so much. Couple that with your artistic skills and unique personality, and you're one fine, upstanding member of the Asylum, and one I look up to.

Wakkos: Put some clothes on, man, for the love of God. You are definitely a unique personality, and a part of the Asylum I love.

There are so many others, people I enjoy hanging out with here. Some of you I know better than others, but I love you all the same... GRUMBLE, docilebob, tikigod, Venificuz, Dracusis, Michael, Jason, Wes, Shii, Petskull, Skaarjj, Ducati, krets, CPrompt, Wolfen, RammStein... I could go on; there are so many of you. You all make this place what it is, and it just wouldn't be the same without you.

Doc... Thank you for this forum and thank you for creating the glass tutorial that opened my eyes to the possibilities of Photoshop. It's been over three years since that day, I am still learning.

Doc, you made this whup-ass website for the world to enjoy, and for me to get all the weird ideas in my head out of my head. I owe you one, the Asylum has kept me sane.

Also Doc, you made me a psychotic with less than 200 posts. That has to be a record. I just do the admin stuff, cleaning, shelving, just like in real life, but, uh... not!

Skaarjj, you contacted me on the Internet and told me about the Asylum. Good on ya.

Everyone else is also incredibly great, but I type so slowly that by the time I thanked all the people I wanted to thank, it would be Easter, 2019. That's a lot of typin', so I'll just say this:

I have learned at least one thing from everyone here. This is the reason I come back. I have gone from a window installer to a [at least half-assed] web/graphics designer in a 6 month period with everyone's help here (and some school). You people are my sub-culture, and even though I don't post much, I am here everyday and I still lurk. I have been made to feel better on a bad day here. I have been psychologically enlightened here. I almost feel like we are family. You people have escorted me from gaude to good, and I will never forget that. It would be nice if someday we all were able to meet in person for some kind of organized weekend conference. That would be cool.

The people that have made me feel welcome:

Emperor: From site reviews to small bits of advice, you are an encyclopedia and a friendly one at that!

WebShaman: Interesting posts and experiencial offerings.

DL-44: You are a virtual goalie, keeping bad taste and stupidity out; originality and creativity in.

InSiDeR: You have helped me to convince myself that stupid questions and comments really are a part of the learning experience.

InSiDeR - down boy. In much the same way as you saw your first year in the 'Freedom' thread (and why everyone was trying to get through to you), so is that a 'learning experience' for many others... Sometimes, it takes an external 'hitch' to bring a realization onto someone...

You've stuck it out till now...let's hope that you will learn even more in this year...

However, I've archived some of the older threads...hehe...just ta keep ya humble!

In your case...just seems to be growing pains...at least, I hope so...

First of all, I have enormous appreciation for Doc and everything he's built here. We have an actual internet community held together by free thinking individuals and it works. It's a bit dysfunctional at times, but it works.

Everyone's mostly mentioned the people I'd like to thank, and their names have appeared numerous times. A special note to JK for remembering me thanks, man.

To all the people here, I am honored to know you all and for better or worse, I'll be here for the long run.

God Bless you all.

Could the timing of this thread be any cooler? Since I was on the verge of my 3000th post, I wanted to take some time and contribute to this thread as I reflect back on the time I've spent here since 03-16-2000.

This may get a bit long but you're just going to have to deal with it

DocOzone - Doc, we have rarely talked directly but it almost seems like that isn't even necessary. Early on I felt very much at home here and that feeling has only gotten stronger since I was first admitted. I want to thank you so very much for keeping this place going and making this all possible. I remember a post a couple of years ago where you typed the words, "I love you", referring to all of us. You said at the time that it wasn't the kind of thing you type easily and I'll never forget it. I can safely say that I have come to love the Asylumites too. And now I want to thank some directly.

mr.maX I love your expertise and your willingness to help so many so often.

Slime You possess excellent technical skills and I would not be surprised to be reading very good things about you in the news one day very soon.

DL-44 I once referred to you as 'one of the pillars of the Asylum'. I really meant it because of your steadfastness and dedication to this place. I appreciate your intellectual honesty and I have always enjoyed exchanging ideas with you on the philosophy front.

Emperor From my perspective, you are royal. It hasn't taken you long to shoot to the top of helpfulness around here. And whether you respond to hail Ming or Palpatine, I am very glad to know you.

vogonpoet I love your art and all your cool siggies. You gave me a scare there a while back but you're still here and so all is well.

GRUMBLE You have really been active around here and it seems you are becoming quite good with the coding. Don't stop and thanks for being a friend.

eyezaer I get a real kick out of your love of pears and even more out of your love for the Lord. This place wouldn't be the same without you.

Jestah Shortly after 9/11 I remember several of us here thinking of you and your safety since we knew you live in NY. I can remember how good it was to read that first post from you saying you were fine.

kretsminky When it comes to politics I've always felt you and I were on the same page. I really respected you for being a teacher because that is such an important job. And now I'm just jealous of you getting to be in so many different places to be ableto take all those awesome pictures around the country.

InI Thanks for all the great work with Java and all the other cool coding ideas you share with us all. Doc said you were a comeback story and I have to agree and I can't tell you how cool it is to know that you are a permanent part of this online family.

WebShaman I feel so much safer knowing that you carry a tomahawk! It was a pleasure participating in the Asylum's first formal debate with you. I never get tired of our discussions in the philosophy section and I hope you're here for a good long time.

Dracusis I believe we've shared some good posts on javascript from time to time and I'm still stoked about having one of your PS creations as one of my SlicePuzzles. And it was my pleasure to read that loooong post on religion and if you ever do it again... well maybe you should cut it down to 1500 words this time

warjournal I don't always respond to your posts in the philosophy section and sometimes I feel bad about it. But rest assured that I read them and you help keep me up to date on the biotech stuff. Thanks for that!

Wakkos Thanks for being well... whacky! You're lots of fun and I was glad you wanted to use my panorama code for one of your pages. Do you remember that post I wrote to you once entirely in Espanol?

InSiDeR Above all, I want to thank you for taking a lot of criticism and using it to grow. Not everyone is willing to do that and I look forward to seeing you continue on that path. Thanks for the great debate too!

bitdamaged Did you know that you were referred to as a "cyber coding god"? Check this out!
DHTML ANSWERS AT THREE IN THE MORNING
Thanks for the coding expertise!

Michael Thanks for your service, really. I have your sock puppet movie on my desktop and watch it periodically when I need a smile. Thanks for you kind words and thanks for starting a thread like this. With all the crap that happens here sometimes, a thread like this can do a world of good and I'm sure it has!

JKMabry Your friendship has been a true blessing. It's people like you who make this world a better place to live. If your'e ever out this way we've got to hookup!

twItch^ Carrots and lotsa coffee! You have great design advice for those willing to listen and you are difficult to ignore. So even though we're not the closest of online friends, you have to be on my list. Early on we had a few "run ins" I suppose but we got through those and I don't know if you know this but... a while back you had announced you were going away and after a time, you returned and one of the reasons you cited was because of your friends here. You included me on that list and I'm not ashamed to admit that it brought a tear to my eye. I wasn't sobbing, it was just one tear but that should tell you something.

Pugzly You're amazing. It seems to me that you have and endless reserve of energy and the way you can take all these different server-side and client-side scripting concepts and smunch them all into very useful sites is to be commended. I was thrilled when I saw that article about you and your work. All I can say is keep it up.

mahjqa Anyone willing to name themselves based on anything Klingon gets my attention. Your meticulous sig designs and artistic eye inspire me.

tomeaglescz I'm really loving the second debate, I can't wait to read more.

NoJive "Political correctness drives me to total distraction" Me too so when I look to the North I see some agreement from a friend.

CPrompt Thanks for all the kind words and I hope we can get to know each other better in future.

Shiiizzzam What 'thank you' post could be complete without thanking our nurse? I love the photography and imagery you have been doing lately, it's simply beautiful as is its creator. I will never forget the outpouring of support that came from here when you were ill. That was a very special event and I would like to think all our prayers and well wishes played a part in your being restored to us.

Suho1004 As you said in your thank you, we hooked up shortly after your arrival and it has been a pleasure getting to know you. Knowing that I've encouraged a brother touches me deeper than you can imagine. I love your insights in our discussions and I am still waiting for that book that you will be writing someday. That post you wrote about your experiences going to Asia was truly riveting.

Jeni I am still in awe of that fist in mouth tute. What can I say? Thanks!

Weadah Your artistic style is inspiring. It is the attention to detail that most impresses me about your work. For me, the amount of intricacy of a work of art increases the pleasure it can give. I wish you all the best in your breedart.org endeavors.

DarkGarden You are one that refuses to yield to "group-think" whether the group consists of two or two million... I believe that is your greatest strength. You have been known to whack a few people around but you don't do it gratuitously, it is clear you have a greater purpose in mind. I'm sure that greater purpose is geared towards the growth of the individual in question. I am a great believer in it taking all kinds of people to get it right. You are a crucial part of that "team" we call the Asylum. I won't even bother mentioning specifics about your artistic prowess for that can only be described as legendary.

mikey milker I don't like to lose anyone from here and I'm glad to see your name around again regularly. I voiced an email opinion to you during some friction shortly after 9/11 and I said exactly what I wanted but it was never intended to hurt but only to keep dialogue flowing. I never knew how you received it but I wanted you to know that.

Wes You've always struck me as someone who has a unique outlook on life and I have enjoyed it on several occasions. I can definitely see your style gracing some form of broadcast someday. I look forward to it.

Witherin Thanks for getting a score of 36 on the SlicePuzzles, it's been matched a couple of times but never bested and you were the first one to do it. Kudos!

RammStein Thanks for trusting us enough to share part of your life with us. I have found this place to be very supportive when some of our number need some uplift.

Nimraw Right back at you about stimulating philosophy discussions, it was a pleasure and I hope we can have more in future.

Kriek Thanks for staying and growing, I never get tired of witnessing that process.

Fig I know a brother when I come across one, thanks for being strong in that. Ain't apologetics fun?

Moth Us insects have to stick together! Don't let Doc's tag line get to you about "specialization is for insects". There are exceptions to that rule.

Metahedron I really appreciate your presence here and I hope you find time to visit us often. We haven't always agreed on things but I believe we've always benefitted from bouncing ideas of one another. Thanks for the awesome discussions and most of all that kick-butt sig you made for me!

Gilbert Nolander It's a pleasure to have you around the philosophy section. Keep coming up with those obscure links I would never find on my own. And please steer clear of that maniac sniper!

beaner You're new here and I hope to hear more from you as time goes by. I want that PS2 hosted site!!!

BeeKay Well, I can't thank you enough for taking the time to actually propose, structure, and pull off a formal debate here in all places an Asylum! What an accomplishment! I look forward to more exchanges in future.

bunchapixels Ok, so I still think of you as such. Thanks for being a gentle spirit here, we can always use that sort of thing. And I'll always see that pixel guy on the Asylum Yearbook and smile.

CarltonCig Thanks for the honest exchange of ideas from time to time. While the dolls are a bit creepy especially now that I have a little girl, I really think the one in the gold dress was beautiful.

counterfeitbacon It was an honor to debate along side you. Respect.

mas I love the ladybug image you made for me. It rocks and I've got it on my sig collection page.

DocCyber Thanks for the entertainment.

Apok ditto

ZOX Thanks for the awesome colours they make my web-whirl.

lallous Thanks for finding the HolyGrail of loading external content into NN4 dhtml windows, that was superb.

Malin Thanks for being half of a successful Internet love story. When people tell me Internet relationships never work, I can smile and know they're wrong

mobrul=integrity. I couldn't agree more with most of your ultimate goals and couldn't disagree more with how you want to achieve them. I love ya! and don't you ever chang.... well err, there's always that sliver of hope. But seriously, thanks loads for the excellent exchanges and I look forward to many more.

Rick Thanks for being a good friend across the sea, I wish you were here more.

Schitzoboy I think this has got to be *the* funniest thing I have ever read in all my time here, "Truth be known though, I'd probably shit my pants, then i'd spend the next 4 mins crying because not only am I going to die, but I have to spend the last 4 mins of my life in pants that I shat in." Thanks so much for that.

=-------------------------------------=

Phew!!! If I've left anybody out then it should be pretty obvious that it wasn't intentional, I went through the entire memberlist!

Anyway, my good buddy, WebShaman has started a P3K party for me and I'm scurrying right over there as fast as my buglegs can take me because I'm already way late. I love this place and I love you people... thanks!!!

How could I be me and not have the utmost respect for a man that sticks to his opinions with an open mind and yet a decided heart?

Somewhere along the way I get the feeling that you're like a wonderland vision in my mirror. I'm consistently stunned when I read your glowing optimism and genuine regard for the people at large.

I'm stunned because with you I never take it as blind stupidty: I take it as researched conviction. I know that I often think that we live in seperate realities, but I'll say this much:

You make your reality very tempting...and quite a bit fascinating just by being there. I couldn't ask for a better foil, or a man that I'd respect more even on the other side of the glass at times.
