And for the record it was me with whom Emperor consulted.

I would like it offically noted for the record that we consider any behaviour like this totally unacceptable, whether it takes place in English or not. My email is in my cell records if Xpirex would like to drop me an email explaining his actions, then I will recieve it and consider it. Until then the account will remain banned until an apology is made to Lacuna through me or Emperor. And even the the apology had better be damn good, and regardless of when it arrives the account will remain blocked for at least one week. And even then, Lacuna, you may choose not to accept the apology, and the account will remain blocked.

And if Xpirex chooses not to apologise, then I don't think we're going to suffer too terribly much without his presence, if this is an example of his regard for our policies and for common human courtesy.

I hardly think he's going to or even should apologise or even mail you anyway as even your whole tone is rather malicious. You are supposed to be neutral.

Junk: You seem to have gracefully avoided the key issue - do you think it was acceptable for him to say what he said?

As you are new here you will have missed all the other posts where they acted belligerently (even to those people who largely upported his point) and seemed intent on eventually getting banned (specifically being banned by me for some reason) and he pushed until he got that wish.

[edit: On the email front there has been some confusion as we have moved over to a new forum and the email addresses are hidden by default and I don't think most people have changed it back.]

I have looked at various posts and seen people having blasts at each other with no such consequences, There have been raging battles and insults.. but no bans. You too have just had it in for him for a while now and have stalked you opportunity.

junk, you're way over the line - calm down man. Read up on who said what, and then come back and accuse someone of lying.

As you discovered, emails not being shown at the moment has not been a problem - since xpirex apperantly had emps email, or how could he've emailed him otherwhise?
No response means 'message not (yet) received' - get that into your head, and you'll see the world isn't quite that much after you after all - and no one lives on the net 24h a day.

Bad language (your 'unpleasantness') has always been one thing, but harrassing some one is not appropriate - see the forum rules under ->addAccount, which Xpirex saw when he signed up (the relevant parts have not been changed with the recent software upgrade). Telling you your actions are bloody stupid is different from claiming that you're bloody stupid.

Neithre does this seem to me to be an instant-ban - xpirex has indeed been here a few months, and quite frankly, he wasn't always the inmate I would've showed to my mother, and had been warned.

Nevertheless, Xpirex can get his account back - if lacuna, the one he personally insulted and harrased, accepts his apologies.
The Asylum has never banned any one person permamently - we have banned people temporarly to clear up situations or calm them down - and we won't give up that policy.
But Xpirex has to do his part to clean up the mess he created.

I clicked that Google link for the translation and that's all it means? I thought it was something violent or far more crude than that. I've seen more abrasive exchanges than that here in the Asylum and no one ever got banned as a result of them. Considering that it was Lacuna (in my eyes at least) that initiated the flaming with "quit fuckin whinin" it seems a little hasty to me that Xpirex was banned.

Again, in the past I've seen far worse things than this go by. Imagine the verbal brimstone that would have been rained down if "quit fuckin whinin" would have been directed at someone like milker, dg, or even dl. It was pretty clear to me that the insult was not meant to infer that lacuna is literally a whore.

To me the more appropriate course of action would have been to delete or edit the comment and then shoot off an email. Just my opinion and since I'm not as active here as I used to be (mostly because of situations similar to this) you can take it or leave it.

How many people have cursed on this forum befre? even in the relatively short period of time that I've been a member I've seen worse replies, even if they werent full of curse terms, many posts from your favorite sharks have been much more degrading and insulting to persons.

At least Lacuna should be chasticed for provoking (not expect a fucking apology letter from) xpi. If you ask me - posting a link to NYT registration is as bad a tone as cursing in hebrew. Wanna make a nice post? put in a freaking quotation. Nobody wants to register somewhere to see some stupid article about email theft...

Firstly, I'd just like to say that it was not my intention to get a whole mess stirred up.

As for my comment, it is what it is. Yes, it was a bit snotty. Yes, I could have worded it differently, but I didn't. I felt at the time (and still do) that he was whining, and flopped my opinion out there. Also in my opinion it ranks in there with RTFM or STFU... not necessarily nice but not that big of a deal (unless of course, ya wanna make one). It hardly justifies the verbal vomit spewed forth by Xpirex. It?s one thing to take issue with me telling him to quit fuckin whinin, it's a whole other to act like a child and start name calling and saying the shit he said. Honestly, I wasn't too miffed or all that surprised by lazy, retard or bitch, as that is par for the course when it comes to Xpirex and his skills in dealing with people. It was the other comments that chapped my ass. Ya wanna call me a bitch, fine, it's a matter of opinion, but the non-english comments went WAY beyond that and were totally uncalled for. Did it hurt my sensitive lil feelers? No. Is it the end of the world? No. But it's just the point that there's no reason to behave that way.

I have gotten an email from Xpirex, which I have passed on to the mods involved. It was not an apology. Nor was any responsibility taken on his part for the comments that were made. Ultimately what happens with Xpirex should not in any way be a decision that I have any say in, as I?m entirely too biased. However, I don't see that a permanent ban would serve the greater good (at this point anyway)

Kind of a moot point don't ya think? They wouldn't have been whining to begin with, but I can assure you, that even if it would have been one of them, yes, I?d have still said it. The difference is they wouldn't have come unraveled over it. Nor would Peter or Jamie have went off on a name calling tirade and I think I?m safe in saying that they wouldn't have seriously called me a whore (slut possibly, but definitely not whore ). Though, I don?t see how useful it is to speculate on how someone else may or may not have reacted.
