Ok, ok, I am not a geek; I don't run Linux or have my own router....
So what free utility can I download to stop all the PopUps I am Always getting.
No I would prefer not to use the Google interface but rather stick with my XP Pro/Internet Explorer 6 level.
Is there hope?
Most grateful as always,
Country Boy

.....and what is wrong with Linux? I mean the price is right if you are unemployed, and learning Linux can go a long ways towards becoming un-unemployed.

The best way to stop the pop-ups is probably to switch to Mozilla/FireFox or Opera, but is probably not what you wanted to hear
And you don't have to be a geek to run Linux, all you have to be is interested in learning some more about your computer. Some of the new distros are even faster and easier than Windows to install...

Ad-muncher is not free-ware and I am trying to stay away from Mozilla.
Any other popup killer software suggestions?
Guidance greatly appreciated.

XP SP2 has the best popup blocker I've seen yet. Better than Google's.

What do you mean by Google interface? I don't think you're going to find too much freeware Popup Blockers that don't add on an additional toolbar. Google's is hardly noticable. There's also a Yahoo toolbar which I imagine works simlar to Yahoo's. I believe AOL's software now comes with one as well.
Mozilla, Firefox, and Opera have already been mentioned. Safari is a great browser also but you probably aren't on a Mac.

I think popupcheck.com's Free Popup Blocker Top 10 pretty much sums it up.

Alrigth let's just get this over and done with...
Don't use IE, don't use it at all, it's out of date and in-secure, it's not worth the risk!
Use Mozilla, use Opera, even use Firefox, take some responsibility for your computer and don't look for a popup blocker get a browser that works properly instead!
Cheers,
Blaise.

countryboy - It's not out yet, but you can download the preview. We're expecting it within 3 weeks. We've got probably a dozen machines here running it without a problem.

It's really obnoxious to constantly plug what you think is the best browser.
Yes, I'm talking to everyone that links to mozilla and opera in every browser-related thread.
Those of us that use and have chosen a default browser like Avant Browser, Crazy Browser, MyIE2, etc., are not going to conform to your mere opinion.

Hey guys relax. It is just a simple question. I didn't mean to start WWIII.
Thanks Pugzly, I am sure the XP SP2 is probably fine with you but there are many others that are talking about problems with it. I remain a bit gunshy of using it now.
In the meantime, relax guys
