Open a photo, create a new layer, fill it in red then set that layer's blending mode from normal to color. |

Doutone would work as well, using it's monotone mode. I however would avoid saving as a doutone, this mode as it is only realy useful win producing spot color image in EPS/DCS workflows and even then it's a bit flaky. One can however use it like a filter converting back to RGB or CYMK upon completing the coloring. |

It's a Doutone, or to be correct it's a monotone. It could be created using doutone mode, by first converting it to grayscale mode, then doutone becomes an option. Pick monotone from the type drop down and click on the color swatch to pick a color, and click on the curve and adjust to taste. |
