ok i dont really know if anybody knows or caress abouut this, nor do i care but people often ask me to either help them with a link that wont work beacause its meant to open in a new window and they have an ad blocker or that they want ads on the page to come up without being blocked by the blocker |

There are some specific rules regarding how popups are blocked. These rules are followed by the "main" popup blockers (aka Search Toolbars) including those from Yahoo and Google. These rules are very similar to those used by the SP2 security update for XP that is being discussed in the media at present. |

I believe a lot of blockers also work on the premise that if the popup was user instigated (i.e. clicking on a link), it will work, but if it was code-instigated without any user interaction, it would block it. |
