A little background on this site. I work for a real estate company. One day in July my boss had this great idea for this site. We had originally been planning on launching the site this fall so I figured I had a while to work on it.

Well, August 6th he tells me "hey, I have a slot for a front page article in the newspapers real estate section on the 14th, think you can have the site finished by then?" So I had to hurry up and finish the site in a week, there are some parts I'm not totally happy with but it suffices. Boss loves it, but you should have seen the site mock-up he wanted me to immitate. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on improvements....other than more content on some pages, we are still gathering info for the site.

You know. I was really impressed with the site, the colors and everything in between, until I took a second look at the main title image.

The text effects that you performed and the compression you use on the image really don't do it justice. It looks pretty darn cheap. You have a very classy feel to the site with both the typography, content images, and color scheme but the title image makes me think of cheap candy, and not classic beauty.

I really think you should spend another day on the title image. The background image is good but the text feels like it should be more refined. I am thinking solid color without transparency and maybe a script font. I keep seeing white letters as written by a caligrapher.

I have to agree with WarMage.

Overall, this is a very nicely done site. Smooth, easy, clean, great use of space, valid code, etc.


But that title image is, quite frankly, horrible. The photo is an Ok shot...but the color balance feels a bit off. The text is simply atrocious. I can't stress that enough. The typeface, the colors, the effects - the whole shebang.

You have a solid site, done without any 3D bits - stick with that for the image. Clean, solid, well spaced text will go oh so much further than cheap 3D.

I also would prefer to see a less saturated, slightly darker blue for the body background. it would really help pull the forground forward, and help focus the eye.

For the title image can I suggest trying something without the black glow? Liquid images are cool as standalones but tend to fade into anything behind them.

Wow, that was pretty random. Not sure why they dug up a 3.5 year old post...

Website isn't even live anymore, we kept the url and just forwarded it to our main website (newly redone, still in progress)

Lol, I wondered why when I looked at it, none of the descriptions seemed to make sense
