Could be because the type attribute on the forums is image/png whereas for Guru's Network it's image/x-icon.

which incidentially was already on the ->grailTodo list,
and now is (should be) fixed.
For IE to work properly, you'll need to add the page to your favourites, I believe.

Btw, what is that icon anyway? Did the Doc create it?

Yea, its fairly rubbish to be honest, I recon it was a temporary job if he did. It doesnt represent the Asylum in any way. Other than the fact thats its a 'design' and its mostly a 'design' forum.?? Could be an idea for a wee Asylum competition. Can those favicons be animated ? a flaming post icon or a capital A or O would be better. Or of course mister slimey.

To me the favicon of Asylum represent a sort of maze ( the Asylum in fact ) in which the inmates wander, chat, try to avoid the squid of the north wing, take their pills, go naked, ...

Hugh: I've seen a website using an animated GIF as favicon, but I don't know how it's supported by other browsers.

Personnally I'd like to see a pill or better a pills "jar"

Bookmark the favicon page?

I have the asylum bookmarked but the favicon only shows up on my bookmark because I put the favicon in my favicon folder... The page still loads with the ever ubiquitous "e".

Talking of favicons, does anyone know how to get different favicons to work in different directories? My experience has shown that only the favicon in the root directory of the site gets used, even when a directory has it's own favicon.ico.

BTW, I like the current Ozone icon too.

I don't call for a changement of the favicon. I rather like the current one, but I wanted to say what sort of icon I'd like if a changement was intended.

so all you have to do is put a favicon.ico in your folder.... I have a question about that. the way my site's set up I have to put all of my pages in an htdocs folder, would I put the favicon.ico in the root directory or in the htdocs folder?

Aurgh! If my freebie sight was up...

Anyway, I just put my favicon in each folder. It's only a couple bytes here and there so no big deal. Then the link src="favicon.ico" works on each page in that folder. I think if you only put it in the root directory, pages in subfolders have to use src="../favicon.ico" .

For me(FireFox 1.0PR): I have the fav-icon on my address bar and tabs in the asylum, but a bookmarked "recent updates" page does not use the fav-icon.
