quote:[ sigrotate]text1|text2[/sigrotate] - this is especially for your sig - it will choose one of the | seperated texts at random to actually include. You can use any ubb code (like [ img] within.

... so if i have 2 different image urls between the "|" will it rotate the images?

Does this negate the necessity of the sig rotating script at our image host site?

Is this a new feature of the GRAIL?

Or, did I miss it on th old board?

Isn't it a problem of browser cache ?

      He, he... yeah it does.
My cache must be holding on to stuff... or randomness can be the same image when only dealing with a couple elements.

hint: press Ctrl+F5 ( Ctrl+Shift+F5 is also accepted in FF) to reload a page and override the cache.

Should the images change when I refresh the page? Or is it once selected it keeps that one?
Whereas, individual posts may vary at time of posting but stay static upon refreshing the browser?

 [edit]

It seems as if the rotation only occurs on the initial post.
A new post has a new image but once that image appears, it stays.
I've exited the Asylum, cleared the ie 6 browser cache and then come back to see the same images that were ther previously...

Does anybody else see the same thing... or is it only on my end?

 [/edit]

 [edit-2]
 huh? Firefox as well....
Is this a bug? Or is this an intended aspect of the sig rotating code?
 [/edit-2]

 [edit-3]
Whoa... IE 6 is keeping the original post when I hit edit button.
But... Firefox is updating the page as I edit.
When I submit the edit, the images rotate as per the sig rotator.
However, browser cache clearings and subsequent refreshes do not change the images.
 [/edit-3]

 [edit-4]
 huh?
a cleared cache and IE6 reloads the page with these edits. However, the only images changing are the ones in this edited post. With each edit the images change. But no changes occur when the cache is cleared and the page refreshed.

The non refresh rotation is occurring in both ie 6 and Firefox.
But, page edits do change the images for an individual post that is actually edited.

So is it ironic that we are getting totally random happenings each time we do something else?

as best as I understand it... the sig is selected at the time of the post and does not change afterwards. I know I saw a thread about this somewhere, but am too tired to go searching. maybe tomorrow

IXI has it correct. The random selection is made as the UBB code is parsed, so it changes from post to post, not on page refresh.

Oh how cool. I hadn't found this yet (OK, wasn't exactly taking the time to look all that hard yet either), but I'm glad it's here. I only have 2 sigs right now, but soon, I shall take over the world! Muwahahahahaha!
 *cough*

Sorry about that, must have been a left over channeling from Halloween.
