Hi everyone...I've moved to US the past 4 mounths and couldn't find the time to visit the asylum. but,
It's good to be back. And i forgot my old usernames password so i had to register again.

Anyways this is what i'm working on now. It's a work in progress. AND i bought a WACOM!!
I was wandering how can i get the tree to look more 3D, and depth to it. the only light source in the picture is the lamp that the traveler is holding.

Any suggestions before i start rendering it? i'll love to hear your thoughts. thank you.

I'm not an artist but it looks like the light source is coming from somewhere between the traveler and where the camera is. The tree also seems more highlighted than anything else. My opinion would be to darken the tree and highlight mostly the right edge of the tree. Also the shadowing on the left branches doesn't seem right.

Oh yes, the shadowing will be corrected - yes i was intend to doo the highlightning to the right of the tree. But my question was , how can i get the tree to look more 3D. I mean is there any rule for the z-depth issues that i should know?
And thank you for your comment Zavaboy. I didn't notice the wrong shadowing on the right side of the branches

Your welcome!
I can't really help you any further than what I already said. All you have to do is get the shadowing right. How? I don't know, so I hope someone else can tell you.

Good luck! I'm looking forward to the finished piece of this great artwork!

i thought maybe i'll post the final render of each day , just to make the thread alive. Critics are my saviors. However it thick they will fill the whole page, and still won't be enough.

mmmm... thanks for posting this so far. mojocool!

I uh... have more question than critics, i am afraid. You seem to be doing just fine on your own.

I hope you really flesh out the guy, give him some color... the focus is definitely the tree... and i would like the man to be a little more intriguing. I also think his light source could be more defined. It would be nice to see if it is a lantern, or a staff, or what not, that is producing the light...

maybe as a finishing touch you could add some fog around the ground...

What program are you painting in?

How are you doing the trees and hanging stuff?

Are you using any textures?

Thank you very much kuckus - however i think somehow the last one merged with the new one. i lost my REPUTATION , i think it was a paranoid or something? Not important.
Thank you eyezaer, i was thinking about adding something but didn't come to my mind to be a -fog-, thanks.
and yes i think it's better to see see the light source outline.

Oh, i'm using photoshop cs, and it's a scanded photo using 72*2 dpi resolution. No texture just plain brush, but i added a 10-20% tree texture to it, which i made it long time ago.
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by the doing tree. what perticular part is it that you have a question? i think i kept the procedure - if that's what u want.
