They have developed a test for brain types as a look at dianosing autism, etc. and looking for its cause. Most forums seem to throw up a lot of B (balanced) types and I thought it would be interesting to throw it in here as we have an interesting mix of techie types and artists and I'm curious to see how things fall:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/life/news/page/0,12983,937443,00.html

My score is:

EQ: 7

SQ: 66

Which makes me an Extreme S - I'm actually off the graph in the Type S corner. Not a suprise as other similar tests have shown I tend to fall heavily into that general area. Actually here is another test:

http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/9.12/aqtest.html

I score 40 on that.

[edit: And it would be interesting to see how you rate yourself: techie, techie/artists or artist just a crude scale for comparison purposes.

I am, if you couldn't guess somewhere in the techie area ]

I'd say I was neither a techie or an artist, but I do like technology and art, perhaps I'm a dabbler

I have always been pretty much a dabbler. Jack of all trades, master of none. Guess that jives with my results, the high EQ has me wondering though.

That puts me at Type B.

My long years of training in communication skills are probably circumventing parts of these tests.

*shrugs*

I consider myself mainly a techie with artistic leanings.

Wow, some iteresting results in here.

As for me, I score much lower than I expected.
EQ 29
SQ 34

Took a quick peek at the AQ one and decided not to take it.

I used to be extremely artsy-fartsy and extremely techie. Past few years, though, definitely more techie than artsy. Now that I have kids and my personal time has been cut down drasticly, I guess one had to win over the other in some manner.

Kind of agree with what InI says though , doesn't the environment in which you grow up matter as well.

This makes me both balanced and pretty weird. ;p I would consider myself both a heavy techie and an artist, in addition to being pretty compassionate to people.

I am occupationaly autistic: When I take the test keeping in mind skills I use for work, I get an AQ of 28, but when I take the test keeping in mind how I look at things away from work I get an AQ of 10.
