Topic awaiting preservation: Problem with actions (Page 1 of 1)

When I try to use most actions in PS I get an error message saying "this command is not available". I'm making sure I select something when it is required, but I still get the message. Can anybody help?

What version of PS do you have?

What version are the actions made for?

If that's not the issue - are you on an active visible layer?

Are we talking actions you pick up here and there on the net, or standard included actions, or actions you make yourself?

I think the problem may have been a combination of the things you mention. I'm using Photoshop CS but some of the actions that I downloaded may have been made for an earlier version. The actions that came with PS seem to work if I make sure I've got the right layer selected, etc. Thanks for your help!
