Hello,

Aside from the multitudes of other things that are wrong, improper, and bad with the following page, what would you suggest as the best color for text instead of the bright blue.

http://www.secret-beach.com/retail.html

Also, in general, what method did you use? How do you go about choosing the best colors for text which appears over a background image? I cant seem to find a good one.

thanks much

Eric

I don't think the problem is really the bright blue fonts, it's rather that picture of the ocean. Get rid of it.

Perhaps you could think about putting a dark background behind your fonts, maybe something that looks like it's semi-transparent, so you can still see the Ocean behind it.

Riski may have seemed blunt in his comment, but he was quite right, because the background changes so dramatically in colour, there is very little choice or chance in finding a colour for your text that would work across the page.

Or at least try and get this picture lighter if you have to keep it, then you could simply use dark blue or black text 9or any other dark colour).

Here's an example:

[sarcarstic] I use a method called common-sense. [/sarcarstic]

Were the advices given above that hard to figure by yourself ? If you did not realized immediatly the range of colors in your image was too wide to use a single color for the text, trying few colors for the text should have lead you to the conclusion that the color of the image needed to be altered to improve the contrast and therefore the legibility.

another option is to lower the opacity of the background .. doing this will open up the range of colors you could use for the font text .. lowering the opacity to like 50% will really tone down the craziness of so many colors used with that background images

Sorry I haven't been clear enough. This is what I've done in my example.
