Was doing a little surfing last night and the handy little "Updates are Available" popped up. It was for FF 1.0.3 |

I'm sure you've already checked but, I believe the installation notes say that you can't install it over a previous version, or something to that effect. It recommends that you install into a clean folder, so you should delete your previous FF folder. I believe they also advise disabling your current extensions prior to upgrading. |

When trying to copy my profile to get FF working on my USB stick, I had messed my version of FF 1.0.1 and later 1.0.2 ( since I installed the update OVER the 1.0.1 ). |

C:\, I think Emps had some similar problems when he wanted to give earlier versions of FF a try and eventually fixed them by getting rid of all the profile information that isn't stored in the installation dir but somewhere under C:\Documents and Settings\. quote:

You need to uninstall, delete the directory Firefox was installed into & delete your profile directory. Save a copy of your bookmarks first and you may as well keep the 'plugins' folder to put back in. Install the new Firefox, put the plugins folder back in, reinstall your extensions, theme(s) and redo your settings. Done. |

Firefox 1.0.3 ate my profile Uninstalled 1.0.2 before installing .3 and it ate... everything. All my themes, extensions and bookmarks, very much gone. Oh well, ho hum... just wanna install 1.0.3 (again, something went screwy in the last install and I haven't had time to fix it) and get back out of Internet Exploder. |

Just for the record and not for boasting, I did install 1.0.3 over 1.0.2 and everything remained and works just fine, aren't I great! |

i looked around but couldn't find anything on it. Is there a way to install themes when you download it in *.rar file format? |

I've found if you open your themes window you can drag and drop the file from your desktop or a folder, this also works for some extensions that 'download' instead of installing. |

I found this upon reinstalling Firefox too... my solution? Don't use the 'Install now' link, instead go into the theme information page itself and use the install link in there, that one gets picked up by the themes engine. |
