heheh humble pie, ah we do like to rub it in don't we Actually, I really wanted to know what the reaction was like in France, especially out in Paris where there were lots of supporters gathering to hear the verdict. Anyone care to fill me in... poi, Moon Shadow?

Actually I kinda hoped it would be in Paris, since everything we Brits have ever done has fallen flat on its face...Millennium Dome, anyone?

Honestly, I'm quite happy about this for one reason (so far): somebody else fell flat on his face, and after some stupid comments he made this week, it's not a very big surprise, is it? This person might need his dear wife to cook some nice dinner for him to cheer up at the end on the week...

The pic on eBay is a cropped version of this one

I'm slightly dissapointed by the decision, but not that much. Honestly I'm not a big fan of sport events : I don't follow the Tour de France, or Rolland Garros or the soccer championship. A co-worker who s even less a sport addict than me and enjoys his "Paris 2012" T-shirt even more since it's a collector now, and he sings the ridiculous hymn of the ( ridiculous too ) French soccer team for the World Cup in Korea

On the other hand some, many, people are dissapointed. [edit] Oh, and obviously, the die hard supporters gratified us with some über lame comments like : "The Brits must have cheated to win" or "Ok, if it's like that, I'll never go to London" [/edit]
Well it could have been the occasion to see the Olympic Games in real for once. Who knows, we may have Paris 2016, or Paris 2020 ...

kimson: Jacques Chirac is a world class champion when it comes to do bullshits : like dismentling the nationnal assembly though its in majority of his party, or flaming a country few days before the decision of the hosting town for the Olympic Games.

that is so bad indeed...
I just hope this is not the kind of discussions they're having in Gleneagle at the moment, or we've had it...

Yesterday, for my 20th birthday I was in Nancy, being interviewed to join an engineer school. The interview was scheduled during the afternoon, just after the IOC chose the country in which the Olympic Games would be hosted.

During the interview, a teacher among the two asked me whether I thought it was good or bad not to host the Olympic Games. I answered I didn't want the Olympic Games to be hosted in France. I told them that in my opinion, money had come to pervade even Olympic Games : there has been too much media coverage, too much lobbying, too much pressure and too many people involved in Paris' candidature. It was, at least to me, a matter of big money rather than prestige. And it didn't fit the idea I have of Olympic Games...

Both teachers didn't answer

On the way back to Rouen, in the train to Paris and in the subway, I heard many people chatting about that. Most of them were disappointed, some didn't mind, some of them were angry and insulting IOC members as well as British people. It seems that most French people expected us to host the Olympic Games, that's why they were so disappointed.
