There has been several music posts in the past, all concentrating on peoples views on what they feel are the best songs.....

This is no different, excpet i would like to ask what you feel are the best songs to listen too whilst driving.

I drive a fair bit daily and a good mixed selection of tunes is important, but until yesterday i had a crappy in car entertainment system, but that has changed now and i would like to put together a nice CD of songs that i may not have heard before for a change.

So ? Any recommendations ?

At present, some of my favourite driving songs is

The Killers - Somebody Told Me
The Cult - Fire Woman
The Cult - She Sells Santuary
Bon Jovi - Living on a Prayer

I think its the nostalgia kicking in for the last 3.

No Sig ?

Drowning Pool - Desensitized

I know of at least three tickets that were issued to people driving while listening to this CD. (One of them was to me.)

Hmm... I tend to quickly go through trends.

right now I'm listening to a lot of Rise Against (very good punk with a melodic edge) and Lyrics Born (new twist on hip hop)

So are we counting out things like Radar Love? What about Highway Star by Deep Purple?

If it's definintely something you've not heard before that you want, and a mighty driving tune at that, I'm going ot take a stab in the dark and say... Hurricane by Kyuss, actually I change my mind, make it Spaceship Landing by Kyuss, from the same album, 'And The Circus Leaves Town' Actually anything from that album will kick arse!

Cheers,

P.S: Oh, how about "Ain't talking 'bout love", by Van Halen? that'll go down nicely methinks.

Right now, Korn... I've got 4 albums and they are constantly rolling in the iPod, iMusic & in the car...

On a lighter note, I guess some of the classic Toto albums, Marillion, Saga, Genesis or perhaps some Michael Ruff stuff.
(yes I listen to just about anything except Trance/Techno/Ambient or stuff like that)

You guys definitely listen to heavier stuff then I do, but I highly recommend Billy Joel's The Downeaster "Alexa". The beat from the drums are incredible when you get to a long stretch of straight, empty, well paved road. You just hit the gas and listen to the beat.

Of course, as a Long Islander I'm biased toward Billy Joel. =)

Movie scores by Danny Elfman. Batman, Pee-Wee, and Beetlejuice are my favorites. Kind of fun to try to remember a scene just by the score. You know, takes the mind away from the road for a bit in a different kind of way.

It's been a while since I've driven a car long enough to wonder about what sounds to play in it
