Ok, somewhere along the lines of playing with Illustrator CS2 I've done something that I can't figure out for the life of me how to fix....

I'm able to drag files into Illustrator to work on but when I want to "save", "save as", or anything for that matter even "open" files, the screen pauses like the window is there but I can't see it (kind of like it got dragges off my screen somehow....

I've uninstalled the entire suite and re-installed and it still hasn't worked. Adobe hasn't gotten back to me yet and I'm sadly at a deadline with a project....

Any ideas guys? (and ladies)?

There is, buried inside the Illustrator folder, I believe, a folder full of your configuration settings and such. One of the others will probably know better what I'm tlaking about, but I doubt this gets removed when you uninstall it, somehow. If you clear this folder out I believe it resets Illustrator to its default settings.

got it... thanks Skaarjj.... FYI all you have to do is Launch In-Design then hold down SHFT+CRT+ALT and voila.

um... i take that back. now it's doing it again and after several attempts at reseting the prefs, I still get nothing....
omg, and i just retarded or what?!?!?? The other thing I forgot to mention is that I'm running a dual screen configuration. Not sure if that would cause any problems.

If you don't mind losing some settings, after you uninstall try deleting your entire folder in Program Files/Adobe/Illustrator (or whatever the path is).

That should kill all prefs.

damnit.... that didn't work either. WTF! this is sooo stressfull. Seems like such a simple little problem, but it renders InDesign completely useless... AAAGGH!!

Have you tried moving the position of the second monitor aorund in dual-head space? Perhaps one of those positions will find your other window...
