Link doesn't come up for me.

It looks like it's in regard to the college championship though - I saw the show ( I love jeopardy =). While it was a bit dorkish, it was fairly funny in the context of the show, and seeing Alex's confusion over the wager...

If you have to ask why, you're not part of the intended audience.

I didn't ask why - it is obvious why

I just don't see it as being anything...funny, or particularly clever.

There was no way he could have lost at that point.

Now, if he had spelled something else with the wager (like the answer, with leet speak) now THAT would be particularly clever, and then have won with it - pure genius.

*shrug*

Arthurio: So far no one has not gotten what 1337 means, my friend, merely question why this owuld be considered funny. And yes, it is dorkish. Then again my personal opinion of going on game shows requires one to have a little bit of inner dork anyway. More power to those who can admit to it.

Amusing. =)

Would have been better if Alex Trebek had known what it was. ("Your wager is... leet.")

CPrompt: it's a joke with any very technological university, particularly the ones with a more nerdy crowd. Carnegie Mellon is one of those.
