You also need to learn how to ask for assistance properly.

A good start is ----> FAQ

Or without actually making a selection from the image: Image -> Rotate......

More importantly, you need to learn to how use your manual and/or help files.

No offense, but this is a very serious case of RTFM...

real helpful, DL.
Gee, I wonder why nobody stops by here anymore ?
If I had gotten responses like that when I first came here, I wouldn`t have come back either.
And would have misssed out on alot of ...aww fuck it.

Nah, I'll have to agree with DL here. Rotating an image is a very, very basic action that's easily looked up in the help file. We're not talking confusion about alpha channels or how to use a tool to create a certain effect. I mean, there are two commands in the menus that clearly use the word "rotate" and do exactly that.

Sorry bob...but this question is the definition of a 'RTFM' kind of question.

~shrug~

I don't know how you remember things, but I recall an *awful* lot of far less polite and less informative answers here over the many years.
Let's be honest - had you come here asking questions like this, you would have gotten some pretty rude answers at different points in time.

At what point was it decided that people should not look at the help files or the manual of the most basic of questions?

Ok i remember when i first joined.
And i'm not here as often as i want to, but it has nothing with peoples behavier to do.
I loved this place and still do (for now anyway, seems that posts has been more less then before?).
I kind of agree with DL.
But mostly i get him/you, the guy allready got an answer sp being a bit hursh doesn't make any difference more then helping the guy on the way on how to ask and what to ask about.
And there are really more then the helpfile/manual.
--------> http://www.google.se/search?hl=sv&q=photoshop+rotate+image+how+to&meta= <-------
Its more behind this then just asking a simple question, people really need to try other sources first when it comes to this basic stuff or they won't be taken seriously.

I got one of them flat panel monitors... you know, the ones that rotate? Well, when I want something on its side in Photoshop, i just turn my monitor over.

works every time. I say the simplest answers are the best answers!

Slightly off topic here, but for those of you who have the flat panel rotating monitors (eyezart, Wes, and any others), do you ever actually rotate your monitor? I've got a rotating flat panel (two, actually), and the novelty of the whole rotation thing wore off after about five minutes. I think the last time I rotated my monitors was the first day I got them. It is true that having two monitors right next to each other does make it difficult to rotate them, but I can't imagine doing it even if it was easier.

Sorry for veering from the original subject of this oh-so-helpful thread. I hope you will all find it in your hearts to forgive me.

I saw a flat screen that when tilted, changed the resolution and showed it in portrait mode.

But anywho yea, I agree more so with docilebob on this one, if someone asks something stupid, I recon the best plan of action is either to give the simple answer or not reply. But asking how to rotate an image in Photoshop is pretty much a joke, if that isnt asking for a RTFM I dont know what is.

I dont think its the reason there is less going on here anymore either, Im not sure what is the reason. Myself, I used to post a lot more regular, infact I used to post work rather than just comments, I left for a while for various reasons unrelated to this board, mostly just busy with college.

Maybe a topic on how to revive the old community should be posted, i'd do it myself, but I don't think i'm the best of terms with some people after my last post linked (by accident) to a pretty damn disgusting image, and people might think im a bit strange. btw, eatpoo.com is an art forum (a very good one) .

Alright Hugh, nice to see you here again I was hoping you'd pop your head in a while back when I was trying to explain the saying "ask me bollocks" in the philosilly bit. I picked up the saying from my Dublin buddies years ago.
Wes, I just lurve that rotating image.

I feel like I may have scared off lanfire69 with my reply which was not my intention at all. I think I get slightly more aggressive at Springtime (sap rising and all that)
There may be at least one other reason too.
I also frequent a few other Forums relating to Photoshop and on some of those the questions are really mental:
What do you do with the brushes?
How do I start Photoshop?
Will someone make me a (sig, banner, whatever) it must be such and such a size and this colour. I must have it in a few hours. All this for free of course. No please or thank you!
Mention the manual and be treated like a freak. Then there is the leet speak, terrible spelling and grammer from idiots who have English as their mother tongue.
Then you get a lot of people who have produced something in a (gif)filter frenzy who are offended if you don't swoon at their undoubted natural brilliance. After all they have spent nearly a whole day learning the programme.

Don't misunderstand me, I know there is a need for Forums to deal with such basics. Basic Photoshop skilzzz (sorry) and basic knowledge of human interactions (gimmie gimmie, I, me, me, mine)

The Asylum is a pleasant santuary from all that foolisness, well it is for me. I know that if a person is willing to put the time and effort into learning the art of photoshopping, then this is a great place to be.

Where was I?.....
Oh yeah Edit>Transform>Rotate.

Thanks. Me too.

And to answer Suho's question, I actually don't rotate it at the moment, but I think that may be because of the way my desk is arranged. It's a big PITA. If I ever get my CPU off my desk and out of the way, I might start using it. I like the idea of rotating it when working on a portrait-oriented photo.

What I really want, though, is a second one just like it so I can get all the pallettes out of the way and use a whole screen for a photo. Come to think of it, that may be when I really start using the rotation.

Yep, thats kickin wes. heh.

I have my cables too tight to rotate at the moment, but I would like to see what it would look like to have two 17inchers roatated next to each other. I suspect that I am so used to the wide screen dual setup though, that I would not really like it... but you never know.
