No but as a life long resident of the San Francisco Bay Area I will first announce here this huge breaking news.
Last night as I was happily watching reruns of Angry Chicken on VOD a black helicopter landed in my back yard which, considering the miniscule size of my backyard, was a heck of a piloting feat. Out hopped this little fellow with a monstrous head perched on a slim little body with huge nebulous black eyes. If Charles Schultz ever gave Snoopy an alien friend he would have looked like this guy. Any way after the complusory anal probe he told me with absolute certainty that we'd be having an earthquake on June 31st.
Yes, but in the UK (), the national language is English Blaise wasn't suggesting to replace the American flag with a European flag (), or was he?
UK English is different than American English which is different from whats recongnized as world English. I am from Canada, and even we have differences between us, although not as much as the UK.
American English is by far the most dominate influence on World English today.

Well its more than half way through the day here and nothing on reuters, I guess its just the usual case of some nut with a website. Are biscuits called cookies in the US? Here they're two different things. Isn't there a "international-english" standard or something?
If You Mean Chocolate Chip Biscuits or Sugar Biscuits... Then yes... "biscuits" are called cookies

As we are talking about the beautiful English language, I feel I just have to correct a few things

The emphasis is my doing.
"whats" should be "what is" (elementary error there).
"recongnized" Heh, new word or typo? It really should be "recognised" anyway

"Dominate" You should be using the adjective form "dominant" if you want to use your language correctly.
Just because something is dominant does not mean it is better, also, a cookie and a biscuit are two completely different things.

Have a cookie....Or would it be a biscuit?
i know i'm probably a little late but cookies and biscuits are actually different things
biscuits are made into a roll of dough, often then refrigerated and kept untill needed, and then you cut a piece off and bake it
cookies are made as dough then just put in the oven and cooked

Just to try to clarify if someone is still confused. And while we're off the topic here might I suggest to the English or Northern USA for that matter Iced Tea. Here they show a few ways to make it though I've never made it with baking soda. I like to drink mine while it's fresh before refrigeration poured over a tall glass of ice. I don't like it if it's been refrigerated for ~24 hours, it will have a sort of sour taste to me.
This may be an urban myth in the states but do English really call a cigarette a fag?

According to informed sources, contacts in the American intelligence services confirm the existence of a time window of 48 hours, centered on May 25th at midnight GMT, for the impact a comet fragment south of the Azores.
This corroborates information of an evacuation exercise of the U.S. Congress to occur later in the day of May 25th, information which reached us this morning.

Funny link (as in humorous) there INSANEdrive. Although I thought the accents were more like Australian and Dutch than English, English
Yes, cigarettes are often called fags. I have also heard, tabs, straights and the usual ciggie.
I think the stories of imminent impact from a celestial object might be hoping to feed off the story of the dying comet which has been passing relatively close to earth as it has been breaking up. Mini-Comets Approaching Earth
The End of The World has already come - it's just happening a bit slower than
anyone thought!
I would genuinely be sitting at home pondering the cookie/biscuit debate when
the Tsunami hit rather than running around in a panic.
"Why be hysterical?" I'd ask myself, "So The End of The World is nigh...
that's just the way the cookie crumbles, I guess..."

To be absolutely accurate, they should have used my country's flag:
I was horrified once to see a football (or "soccer ball" to certain non-English
speakers) emblazoned with the flags of all the world teams; England was
represented by the Union Flag! I'm sure everybody knows the one I mean -
often incorrectly referred to as the "Union Jack"?
(Only a British commissioned vessel flies this upon the jack mast, and only there is it named
correctly a "Union Jack")
It also troubles me that some software installers only give me a choice between
"US English" and "International English"!
I try not to lose sleep over such things though.
__________
Hilarious link to the fag vid there. Oddly, "fag" is a contraction of "faggot",
meaning a bundle of sticks used as fuel.
I can't think of an appropriately inoffensive "burning fags" joke right now...
Here is some interesting (and amusing) information from the Wikipedia...

No You are all wrong, the most dominant language in the world is not UK english, not British and not American. The most dominant language in the world is "Bad-english" Let me proof this point for you. There are roughly 7billion (meaning 1000 *1.000.000) people on the world.
A bit more as 300 million lives in the US. An estimated guess would be that almost a third of them does not speak or write "correct" english. Then there is a group of about 50 a 70 million peole in Europe who speak correct UK english. This leaves us with the rest of europe where 300 million speak som sort of bad english. Often so bad that you can hardly understand what thy are sayin. Then there are South-Africa and india, in which people tend to do strange things with whatever form of english they can get. From the rest off the world no more as 2 Billion people speak some sort of enlglish again somtimes it can hardly called egnglish. Artists and TV stations use some pretty baad english too.
Ofcourse the most spoken language is Chinese and this only happens to be so becouse huge amount of chinese people who live in that country

Heh, I like your thinking there Rinswind, bad (or improper) does seem to predominate.
I agree with White Hawk too;

Recently I have (just had to ) changed the language setting in MS Word on twenty two computers in a friends workplace after I noticed they were set to American. I had wondered why some attachments from her were using American spelling. Now I tend to check every computer I work on. It has been quite a long time since I installed MS Word from scratch but I'm sure it does give one the option of default language, perhaps it sneakily switches back during the night

of course if we are talking about bad english you have to take into account the many different languages in china that are as different as english and french
another matter which if anybody has been to china they will know that the chinese often have trouble understanding each other anyway. they have a far more complex language that is so complex that everybody in china speaks "bad" chinese.
