Topic: Would it not be time we put an end to the reign of Dumb & Dumber? (Page 1 of 1)

I was very pleased, this morning, to read such sensible words spoken by a truly engaged artist, Thom Yorke.

My favourite bit:

Although I do love my life in the UK, am well integrated and have many reasons to stay here, the situation does make me wonder whether my choice actually implies that I am supporting such outrageous behaviour from the Prime Minister.
Therefore I would consider going back to Switzerland if the political environment does not improve to a more responsible and sensible one.

Now all this was very funny in the beginning, making fun out of Dumb & Dumber, but it is getting dangerous and out of control.

Yes I did, but it is not really my point

It's funny, I've been thinking about putting my passport to good use and doing things the other way around, I'm getting pretty tired with UK politics.

BUT!

Musicians/Actors/Artists/Entertainers are not politicians, and should be careful about how they promote their views. Sure eveyone is allowed an opinion, but I don't want to know David Beckhams idea on war in middle east, no thank you!

I do agree about being careful, but they do have some "power", at least on the public, which makes it useful. Other artists often express their political feelings/position, such as Bono, Chris Martin or dear Bob Geldof ; it does not always make they look clever and/or efficient. I just thought Thom Yorke was being accurate.

As far as Becks is concerned, the only World wide "issue" I would expect him to be concerned about is the World Cup

I saw a video on google about how the london tube bombings were an inside job, the biggest tell tale is the photo of the train floor with the steel turned/bent upward clearly showing the bomb was detonated from below the train, not someone onboard. Maybe off topic, but its stinks like 911. But back to the celebrities view's yes they do have a lot of power, even Maddox has his large influence and his latest post was a terribly thought out argument against a US conspiracy. At the same time, I think Thom Yorke strikes most people as an intellect and he is only proposing an idea similar to Charlie Sheen, in contrast Britney Spears supports Bush.

I think its easy to spot who is trying to gain or has gained by making their political views public.

(I'm not quite sure what my point is here.)
