![]() I returned home after a couple of days away to find my venus had captured her first fly. Well, I think she may have caught a few tiny fruitflys in the past but it's hard to tell as there's hardly anything remaining by the time the trap re-opens. |

![]() Next time I get online (I have just used up my one hour per person in the Library) I'll fill you in on all the juicy bits. I have another carnivorous plant that uses a tentacle with thousands of red sticky blobs to trap and digest its pray. |

![]() I still owe y'all a detailed explanation of just how Venus has three little trip hairs inside the trap that have to be touched at least twice before the "mouth" closes. Even then, if there is no struggle and the triggers are not touched again the mouth will open again. This is to prevent our little Venus wasting energy trying to catch and digest any debris that may accidentally be blown in. |

![]() Looking at the small droplets in detail makes me want to get a nice SLR digital high end camera. I currently use a Fujifilm Finepix S5100 4MP Digital Camera. It has worked well with its 10x zoom, as a family and fun camera. I have now seen two comments on here about the Canon EOS 400D, so I will look into that one, unless somebody recommends another good one for pictures like this. |
