I just watched the opening ceremony for the Olympics, I have to say for a boring sports event that nobody really cares about , the opening ceremony was absolutely fantastic , well done China.

Me and my family are boycotting the China Olympics.

Free Tibet.

WS: so... how does that work, exactly? Do you just not watch it on television?

Exactly, Master Suho.

And Blaise, you are correct about that (although Afghanistan is a different matter).

Of course, the Olympics are not being held in the USA right now, are they?

What confuses me is -

1a) what does not watching the Olympics accomplish?
1b) how does boycotting the Olympics themselves have any bearing on Tibet? And what about all of the other egregious human rights issues in China not related to Tibet?

2) what about all of the other ways to boycott China? Do you make sure the products you buy are not made in China, for example?

I don't know, I've just been very confused by the hoards of people up in arms about boycotting the Olympics - what the ultimate goal is, and what effectiveness this approach can possibly have.

Being that I am just one person in the world (and my family just one among a huge sea of faces), there are little things that I can do to express my feelings against the invasion of Tibet by the Chinese.

Boycotting the Olympics is one of them.

Now, I am under no illusions that it makes a big difference - but then, that is not the point.

It makes a difference to me.

Does that mean I can boycott the U.S just by not watching them on Google Earth?

Just inclined? I would have taken that as a sign that Providence was declaring the child's name to be Octavia!

Although there aren't really any good nicknames for "Octavia." Unless she goes into the medical practice, and then you can just call her "Doc Oc"...
