In this tutorial you will learn how to colorize or change hair color using Adobe Photoshop. To do that follows some steps.
Open the image of which you want to colorize hair then click on the channels tab on the layers palette.
And duplicate the blue channel by right clicking and choosing duplicate channel on the channel.
Click o.k. in the duplicate channel dialogue box.
Turn the visibility off of the channels other than the blue copy channel by clicking on the eye icon on the channels palette and start working on the duplicated channel
From tools palette select dodge tool
Set these options for this tool. Range as highlights and exposure to 46%.
Now highlight the image other than the hair. You can also change the exposure of the tool as needed
Now from tools palette again select burn tool.
Set the settings for the burn tool. Range as shadows and exposure to 100%.
Now burn the hair using this tool
After burning the hair click on the Channel by holding down the Ctrl key.
It will make selection of the channel.
And turn the visibility on of the other channels and click on the layers tab.
Press Ctrl J to make a new layer with selected area and turn the visibility off of the original image.
Now use eraser tool to erase the area other than the hair.
Now from the layers palette click on the effects button and choose color overlay from the drop down list.
Set the blend mode to hue and click o.k. turn the visibility on of the original image
Click on the color box and select your own color for the hair.
And see the color of the hair has successfully changed to different color.
You can also change the hair color to any color you want by clicking on the color box and selecting color from the color picker.
Hope this has been helped to you. Send your comments.
The image you've used is quite a low quality example, will this technique work just as well with a high quality jpg?
That's not the original image that's only screenshots, here is the original one and I made this video text base using these shots. And one more thing it will work well with high qulity jpg also. Thanks for your time Blaise.
I've just visited the site you link to at the bottom of your post rebecca125 (trainingshell.com) shall I presume it is your site?
If it is I strongly recommend that you give credit for the video tutorial lenticular panel to the real author Russell Brown . The way you have presented it make it look like Samloya made the tutorial.
I hope the rest of the site is not like this as this was the first tutorial I looked at. I've just checked and there is another Russell Brown tutorial there
Perhaps I have missed something and you do give credit to the original authors and you also have permission to reproduce them on this site? Although I have looked and can see no such acknowledgement.
If not this is a blatant infringement of copyright of which you should be ashamed
This is from Russell Browns site

You should remove all material that you do not have express permission to publish from your website, and do it now. Retrospectively asking for permission from the true authors is not a wise move if you still have the stolen material published on your site.
Then you should check again that those people who are claiming to submit original tutorials/materials actually are doing so and not just ripping off other peoples work.
we recently unpublished all that tutorials and trying to comunicate with Russell and soon we'll fix this problem.
The point here is that you and the owners of that site, are the problem. You are ripping people off.
Are you trying to sell us the story that you have permission to publish all those video tutorials? That you have permission to use them? I know you don't have permission for all of them I have looked through your site.
This is what you should do NOW:
You should remove all content that you do not have express permission to use.
You should seek to apologise to those you have stolen material from and offer recompense.
You should set into effect a robust method of checking the ownership of the material you use to make sure you have permission to reproduce it on your site.
If you are not a SPAMMER then you should get yourself off to the basement for some shock therapy treatment.
Cheers, I was starting to think I'd gone OTT.
I've taken it a little further since my last post. I've been in touch with Russell Brown and he is now dealing with these people about stealing his tutorials. I've also followed the google search link Arthurio provided and alerted the admin's of some of those forums. I'm pleased to say so far a couple have taken action and removed the spam and deleted the offenders membership. I've also emailed Google to inform them that the offending website is attempting to make itself look legitimate by featuring Google adverts.
Perhaps someone here with more knowledge can help me with my next step?
I have tried a "Whois" search to find out who are the publishers of this site and also who owns the servers that host the site. I want to give them some heat too along the lines of "do they know they are party to unfair and criminal activity that is despised by the whole of the creative internet industry?" and hopefully initiate a tumbledown effect.
Trouble is I'm not sure how to interpret the results of that search.
Is it: These people:
Kentucky - Hopkinsville - Ecommerce Corporation
that I need to get in touch with?
Or, hawaisbutt@yahoo.com? Who seems to be in India. The IP address seems to be "98.130.31.31"
How can I find the website host?
I've read on some of the sites that "rebecca125" host posted this bilge to, that "she" is French. I'm assuming that the spammer thinks that posing as a French girl called rebecca125 and posting a photoshop tutorial makes the scam above reproach and somehow desirable.
- Why use the Blue channel?
- Why Dodge/Burn with those particular settings?
Those are two big things about this technique. But why do they work? What is it about those two things that work? Will Blue chan and Dodge/Burn break when using other photographs? Why will they break? How do you adjust for other photographs when it does break?
Showing very specific steps on a very specific photograph is only a small part of teaching. Show how the tools work and why they work. Show what happens when things break and you gotta go with the flow.
Instead of ripping a tut, tear it apart and make it shittons better with real substance.
I think the real lesson learned here, as I have observed being learned the hard way by several others who have made this sort of mistake, is not to foist crud upon the Asylumites... coz' they don't take crap, and they are more than happy to invest time and resources in exacting righteous justice!
I do appear to be on a crusade doodle I?
People who help me enjoy the wonders of Photoshop through tutorials like Russell Brown, or indeed, Doc Ozone and the many inmates who have written excellent tutorials here and over at the GN (I am not going to fall into the trap of naming names as I will undoubtedly forget some and regret it later) have my deep gratitude. So when I see what is obviously a group or corporation trying to profit from the hard work of these people, and it is hard work, well, I gets a little irate.
Couple that with regular work drying up on me so I have more spare time than usual.
If I hadn't been forced off my bike again (by an inattentive car driver) and suffered some broken ribs and general bruises and painful friction burns I'm sure I would have pursued this twonk (rebecca125) further.
I still need to find out who are the hosts of this website and contact them, can anyone help me with this, I lack the expertise.
I'm also going to contact other tutorial providers like Adobe, Photoshop TV and the like and alert them to possible copyright infringement.
After that, who knows? I may go commando

What, no pictures or video from helmet cam? But seriously, that's not just a minor spill and a bit of road rash. You seem to be on the mend and for that I am glad. Now go out and sue the bastard right into the fucking ground. You have a nice day now ya hear.
