So If you have a text sig like:

or any other unusual line of text.
Is it considered ripping to take that
line of text and use it as your own?

I would say yes if this is a personal text, otherwise if this a quote from a politician or someone else I would say no.

Ok, It was that I saw an line of text
used at another forum. It was the exactly
the same line of text that a user at this
forum has.

Well I think it's lame and unorignal even
though it's not 'illegal'.

or someone saw someone else's comment and lacking in originality themselves thought it worth lifting in a crude attempt to come up with something which might impress some other weak-minded people into thinking they were:

a) cool or:
b) interesting

While I am mildly interested in who it is so we can point and mutter comments behind their back this is so amazing trivial that the true mind-numbing triviality is only just dawning on me. The fact that it has taken some of the greatest minds in the Asylum (and Michael) a number of posts to point this out demonstrates that it is a Slow News Day around these parts.

So here is my advice:

1. Email the person who's sig has cuaght your attention and let them know that you know. Or:

2. Contact the person whos sig has been lifted. If they were bothered by this it would prove that they also were a fool.

Now can we move on to something else? I propose that everyone have a dig around in their belly buttons/navels and post pictures of what they find in there.

I have literally stolen a quote from this site just to add it to my one-page website at wwwdotvioldotcom. BUT, before I did that, I made sure that the quote was well-known all over the Internet (the quote itself has the name of the guy that originally said the quote). So, actually, I didn't steal the quote itself but rather the work of someone that had created the .png file with that quote. I could easily create a similar file, with the same quote, but I didn't. Shame on me.

Well, it seems obvious to me which 'text sig' you are referring to, and that is indeed a quote - from a song.

However, one person quoted it correctly, the other person did not

So no, there's no issue whatsoever here....other than the bad habit of using song lyrics as a sig.
