Topic awaiting preservation: interesting article (browser war)

So I'm reading this article titled: I want my dom and I found it interesting enough to post it here. It seems there is alot a talk about web standards, the open source, the dom and crossbrowser dhtml vs. flash here, and I have to agree with this guy. What do you think?

The article is about problems from two years ago...it states that some changes should be made an a lot off them are already done. The mozilla browsers proofed that they stable and comfortable. Even Opera is gaining more fans.
Today it is easier than ever to develop for the web. Although the last generation browsers is not 100% compliant they come very close if you use the latest generation web languages. I already saw people here who said they didn't care for browserchecks anymore. I myself use opera7, moz1.3 and IE6 and i see far less differences on the web as 2 years ago.
Back then flash was growing very big but today people get fed off and irritaded by it. Even big companies are dropping flash becausse it is imposible or very hard to index for the searchbots. In a couple off months flash will be a little web technique only used for presentations and cartoons. Which is perfectly ok since it is very good at doing so.
However we have to be alert and we should keep fighting for better compliance. But we should concentrate on the issues from today not on those from 2 years ago.

Actually, it doesn't seem that having dom/w3c compliant browsers available is much of a problem anymore, however, getting the mainstream to use those browsers is. Fact of the matter is, most people simply aren't as tech savy as we would like them to be. A great deal of them really are using older browsers (even 4.0). As long as we still have to keep developing for those people, this article still has relevance today. I disagree when you say flash is dying out. In fact I would say quite the contrary. There are several large and major corporations migrating to all flash websites. Don't get me wrong, I think they should have a html alternative as well. But to say that flash is dying out....

Hmmm...an 'old' arguement, dusted off...*shrugs*

Personally, I don't like flash. I've seen some good use of it...and a lot of bad.

I would very much like to see 3-d start making it's way into the web big time...but that is just my way of seeing things...

I would actually like to see 'the browser' disappear altogether...fat chance of that happening, however...

Glad I'm not doing web-design anymore, actually.
