you know....a wise man once said this:
real men don't make backups, they just cry

i got a problem
4 years webdesign and photoshop stuff are gone
(and all mp3 files)
after i recognized it, i immediately switched off the pc, so that my lost data doesn't get overwritten.
i have to tried to look up in the :FAQ:, but i didn't find a software for getting my data back.

any ideas? is there a software out there?i know that the pc only makes the data aible to get overwritten but it is not immediately deleted.so, a big part of my hard disk has been "deleted" and i really need it back. (it's a very long story how this happened, so i won't start to explain )

Mas, I can't help you, I'm sorry for that, and even more for the stuff you've lost. I've been there...

And I'd like to make an announcement. Regular forum visitors will have seen this type of post over and over again.

Now, tonight, if you have a CD drive, Burn a copy of your most beloved stuff. Don't think 'yes, I'll make an update, later', do it tonight. I know I will.

You may end up thanking me later. The cost of a measly CD is nothing compared to the hours of work you may lose later on.

Sorry to hear this, mas.
And unfortunately I don't know of a solution right off the bat.

And I'd certainly like to hear the story about how it happened.

This happened to me not too long ago.

I used software called "Get data back" and it restored 99% of my stuff..

This is what happened.

I have 2 hard drives. I was going to clean Install WinXP Pro, so I backed up everything on the 2nd hard drive. Well, durring installation, it asked me what hard drive I want to install the OS on, well.. genious me, I deleted the entire partition on the 2nd hard drive (the stuff that I backed up)

I cried LOL

But I got the software...hit me up if you need it. It worked for me like a charm

thank you, i'll give it a shot.

here is the story how this happened.

on friday, it was my birthday and therefore I hrew a biiiig party. 30+ ppl.
i wanted to be my pc switched on because i wanted to play my mp3s on it.
ok, everything was nice so far.
i downloaded a software so that i can protect my most important folder from getting deleted by some drunken guys and so on....you never know what could happen when someone drinks alcohol.
so, i protected my folder (which also contained my mp3 files) and everything worked fine.
then, after i wanted to de-activate the protection, the program said something like *your folder is now available again - switching off the protection was successful*
cool,ey?
after i opened my folder it was empty
all gone
this shitty program deleted my stuff. (oh and the strange thing is that i did this protection on other folders before and everythinng worked fine there).
