Just wanted to know if anyone collected anything. Over the years I have collected many things from coins to baseball cards to Star Wars toys. (Yep, I'm nothing but a 30 something kid )

How 'bout you?? Collect anything?

Awww... collecting things..... Well if anyone remembers "Pog's" or "Tazo's" I have/still got the whole series 2 of pogs, with some left over. I wanted series 1, but only got about half of them and then lost most of series 1 in a game at school . Also I have the whole collection of walkers crisps Tozo's (the Warner Bros ones, I think), plus folder to keep them in. Awwww joy it was collecting stuff. Sad I know, but they where okey at the time...

Now I collect nothing... to busy with life, art, design, music and thing to collect things.

But that's the list off the top of my head.

I used to collect comic books. Eventually, I traded all of my non-John Byrne to my friend for all of his John Byrne. I gave him around 3 boxes for around 100 comics. IMHO, I made out like a bandit. Quite a few of them are signed, and he even gave me some original art.

Okay, so he got my signed by Frank Miller Dark Knight Returns. That did hurt a little. Then again, I got OMAR signed by John Byrne in the deal, which did soften the blow.

GD, I kind of used to collect dice as well. Got around 200 in my tin. Got a 100-sided in there that rolls forever. Can't recall if I kept my figurines.

Personally, when I was very young, I collected stamps and stickers for a time. It never really became anything serious. These days, I don't have a collection hobby.
My husband, James, collects all kinds of things. He's got a pretty good collection of late 70's early 80's baseball and football cards, and several sets of NASCAR collectible cards. He's a HUGE Dale Earnhardt fan, and I have to struggle not to let him decorate the house in his #3 stuff... a battle I seem to be losing...
And he has a habit of picking up stray toys and little playthings that he finds around. Mostly when he's helping people clean out an attic or basement, they'll be putting something in the trash that they don't want, and he brings it home. Most notably, he recently brought home this wind up toy:(See the Acrobat and Horse Wind Up Toy), made of tin, that this lady actually put in the trashcan. Now who would want to throw that away? We have the oddest collection on the top of our entertainment center...

I collected Marvel comics for about eleven years. Then I did a summer as an intern for Homage Studios (Jim Lee's Image outfit). I spent that summer mostly running errands and alphabetizing Homage's stockpile of over 10,000 comic books. The office was run by Lee's mother-in-law, who used to work for the IRS and obviously attended their charm school. After that, I stopped collecting completely. It killed my interest in collecting comics. On the plus side, I got a whole pile of original art by Jeff Rebner, who I'm hoping we'll all have heard of in a few years (or maybe have now, as I don't keep up anymore).

I also got into Magic right at the beginning, and still have quite the pile of Alphas, Betas and Unlimiteds, as well as almost all the Arabian Nights series. I have no idea what they're worth, but there they sit. I'll probably wait until all the kids who played Magic have gotten computer jobs and become nostalgic and Magic becomes cool again, then I'll sell and rake it in...

Seems that girls just don't like the whole collecting thing. At least not as much as men.

As for me, ever since I was "younger" I collected Star Wars toys. As of late, that collection has G R O W N. My Ex-fiancee used to beg me to keep the display to a minumum. Soon, it will take over my entire house

I collect comics as well. Right now the only thing that I get is the Ultimate X-men and Ultimate Spiderman with the new Battle of the Planets. Used to collect every comic under the sun but I have reduced that to just the few. Star Wars on the other hand . . . well let's not go there

I don't "collect" anything per se...as in, I don't have a defined collection of any one thing, and I don't scour ebay and the pawn shops all the time, but I do have a few things that I like to get a hold of when I can - I have a steadily growing vinyl catalog, a steadily growing library of books - particularly interested in original editions when possible, as well as any form of older printings (most of what I have in this vein is dated from the 40's - 60's or so...nothing earth shattering).

I also have a rather large collection of Magic: The Gathering cards. I never collected them, I played...and so I wound up with a huge collection on accident Nothing pre-revised edition unfortunately, and the last set I recall buying was 'visions' I think. The "book value" on the collection is easily in the thousands of dollars, but in real life I'd probably be lucky to get a few hundred for it...

Moon Shadow - as I make it a point to drink as wide a variety of beer as possible, my daughter and step daughter have rival beer-cap collections going =)

Coins... mostly from countries I've visited. I can't say that I really, truly actively collect them, since most of the coins in my collection are just those that are left over from trips, but I do try to seek out coins if I can when I am in other countries. For example, I went to the museum in Ulan Bator when I was in Mongolia to buy some old coins from a few hundred years ago, and I also got a set of more recent Mongolian coins (Mongolia doesn't circulate coins anymore--at least they didn't when I was there). When I was in Berlin shortly after the Wall came down shopkeepers were tossing in East German coins with the change (since they were worthless as currency--they look and feel like play money), but I wasn't complaining. I also managed to pick up some coins from the Third Reich--I have a 2 pfennig piece from 1938 and a 1 pfennig piece from 1942, but the 1938 coin is in much better shape. The oldest coin in my possession is a Chinese (Northern Song Dynasty) coin from the 11th century. It's tough to pick a favorite coin, but I think I would have to go with the British pound coin. I just love the way they feel when you hold them in your hand (they are heavy for their size). When I was in England there were six varieties circulating, and I managed to get my hands on all six.

Yeah, so, I like coins.

And aside from that I collect the trade paperbacks of the Sandman series, the Blade of the Immortal series and striking pictures. (stuff I rip out off magazines and newspapers, or flyers or cards. I collect them as a kind of inspiration archive and for mood boards and such)

That's pretty funny, because I think the last expansion set I have any significant amount of cards from might have been the Dark set (that might not be the right name, but the symbol was a crescent moon) or maybe the set after it (which might have been the Fallen Empires set... can't remember). I still have a beta Lich and a beta Icy Manipulator lying around somewhere. I haven't played that game in years... my cards are all sitting at my parents' place in the States.

I collect stamps and coins because of my dad. He grew up collecting and has a huge collection of both. The stamps were because he had an uncle who traveled a lot and would always write him letters with stamps from whever he was visiting. The coins are from when he himself started travelling. Now like, whenever he or I see something interesting we set it aside and then every few months we'll sit down and put it all in the folders he keeps. Well, I'll catalog them while he browses through and tells me about the trips the coins remind him of )

By myself, I collect Winnie the Pooh things, lol )

Books. And more books.
Mostly books about design (interior-, industry-, graphic.. you name it), branding and cooking (which includes lots of recipes on stray papers. I really should index them in a db instead)

And I still have got my old StarWars collection pretty intact (apart from the ones we used for targetpractice about 15 years ago) as well as a collection of matchboxes from around the world.

But much like DL I so not actively search for new items to my collection.

I do collect a few things. I don't collect any one thing all the time but I would say I have a pretty decent collection of Babylon 5 paraphernalia. I also have been collecting comic books since 1993, it all started because I wanted to get the B5 comics that came out then.

One of these days, I'm going to get my B5 collection online and do some spiffy interface for it. I want to make somewhat of a b5 shrine but I really don't know when I'm going to get the time to really do it. I will even have a domain name dedicated to it.
