I have a bunch of questions regarding application development in OSX and some plain vanilla applescript stuff, just wondering weather or not anyone here has any experience with this platform?

I figure I'd ask here first. I'm scared of any forum that doesn't have orange text. =)

4 days and no reply. I'll take that as a big fat resounding no then.

Not to worry. I've managed to stumble through most of my problems now anyways.

Not yet, but I'm making the change soon. I have decided to toss Windows for MAC, and will probably spend a bunch more money than I'd like to, but I think it's worth it. I'm goofin' around with Linux at the moment, Mandrake, really cool.

Sorry Dracusis - been sorta otherwise occupied in another arena

App development - no. AppleScript - a little. Enough to know it's potent stuff, largely overlooked by even long-time mac users, and worthy of more attention than I have given it. AppleScript was pretty mature under pre-OS X; the new OS is working hard to achieve the same level of scriptability. Truly astounding things can be done. It's pretty widely used in the publishing industry - for instance, and appleScript can take a whole print article, pictures and text, and save it to a web site - converting a Quark fle to plain text, high res CMYK images to 72 dpi rgb, even ftp to a directory, all automatically. Woo. If I ever need to do the same thing twice, AppleScript would rock.

Yeah, I've been playing with it a bit on the Mac's at University. It's so much better than any of the scripting technologies used in MS Windows simply because of the widespread and very tight integration of various applications that support it.

However, my biggest problem with Macs is my 14 years of PC/MS experience. I still don't quite understand how a Mac ticks if you know what I mean. Anyways, I seem to have most of my issues Ironed out. But like most computer related things, the more time you spend with them, the more you understand. It's just a pity I don't have a Mac to play around with at home.

On the up side, after getting quite fresh with Director I've decided to push aside my hatred of Macromedia and Flash so I've decided to learn how to use it. Your GN tutorials have come in quite handy recently. Thanks.
