Can anyone suggest a good link where I can learn on where and how to punctuate properly the essay I write ?

I congratulate you for wanting to punctuate correctly -- you're taking a step many native English speakers don't bother with.

... Are the uses of punctuations in English different with other languages ? As far as I know English, I never noticed differences, but I would like to be sure of it ( and therefore trying to improve my poor grammar )

I can't find an online additon, but you my what to find a copy of the following book.

The Gregg Referance Manual, By William A. Sabin

It is the defacto standard in english grammer referances, at least here in the states.

Moon Shadow: I don't know how many languages you speak but i know in some of them theres an upside down question mark before a question and an upside down exclamation point before sentences which require an exclamation point. This isnt used in English.

Yes Platyjim this punctuation is used in Spanish (I speak it too).

I guess the punctuation is the same in French and in English, so I will keep using mine

the major difference is always the commas!

Basic rule: english uses a lot less of them than for example german, and I believe, French (it's been some years since I've activly read or written french though...).
