![]() I know I am new here and well, A lot of people may read this and be like "Who the hell are you!?" but I have never skinned or even attempted to skin a bulliten board and it'd be a neat thing for me to try and do. Question is this, Since I am sixteen with a way over-protective father/mother, Is there anyway someone could give me some hosting (ya know, a subdomain, 10megs of space, some bandwidth and mysql w/ support for .php)? Id appreciate this so I can skin a forum just to learn something new. If anyone will help, thanks. |

![]() step 1) Get some sleep. Try again when you have your full mental capacity to aid you. |
Nervous Wreck (II) Inmate From: Penrose, Colorado, United States |
![]() Sleep only if you can, Which I cannot. Ok the problem is the fact I installed that program thing and it loaded everything onto my Win98SE computer and Apache and MySQL work, However the PHP doesnt. I cant open .PHP files for some reason on my computer even though PHP is on it. Did I not set it up correctly? Appearently it is working though because I can access it at http://localhost/phpMyAdmin and such. So I dont know. Erm. |

![]() Did you follow all the instructions? the PHP files MUST be under the phpdev\www directory (if oyu're using PHPDev...which you should be) if the server is going ot pick them up. |
Maniac (V) Mad Scientist with Finglongers From: Cell 53, East Wing |
![]() BD: The installation should have some test files so you can make sure you have things working - are they working. If they are then the problem is with the forum if they aren't then it is your Apache installation. If it is the latter then have you started Apache? The server needs to be running first before PHP will work. |

![]() Ok I got FoxServ installed, Just to clairify. Now I have re-read the documentation, and the FoxServ site itself and for some reason PHP doesn't work. How do I get it to work? Apache and MySQL work beautifully however, When I try to open a .PHP page, It doesn't load at all. Can I ask someone who knows how to fix this? I am using Windows98SE also. Please help, Im Server Dumb... |
Paranoid (IV) Inmate From: everywhere |
![]() You need extra fiddling to actually get php files to process and open in a broswer when you click on them. Instead open up your browser of choice and type "http://localhost/". See what you get then. Then try looking at some files that you have put in the appropriate folder, e.g. "http://localhost/test.php". I think that may be the misunderstanding. |
